DETAILED!: During SoCal fires! Lots of pics

Hey there, I thought Id share some pics of my extensive detail this past weekend. Shes my daily driver and has about 65,000 miles and was purchased brand new back in 2002. She was only clean for about 20 minutes before the SoCal fires ash came pouring in . A few hours after I was notified about a mandatory evacuation. So I loaded her up and took off later during the night. (detailing supplies and paintball equipment were first to be loaded! ) ASH was EVERYWHERE on the way to Qualcomm stadium and the freshly detailed interior of my car smelled like a BBQ pit. Ive got one question I used Wolfgang Sealant topped with S100 carnauba wax and on the plastic pieces of my car (hoodscoop, spoiler, door handles) it attracts LOTS of dust/ash which causes these pieces to stand out, what can I do to fix this??

That sucks!! But not as bad as the evacuation. I hear ya about the ash, second day after the fire I get in my car (100% black interior & I park with the windows cracked open about 1/2") and it's covered in ash - looked as if it was the head & shoulders test team vehicle.

Remember when you go to wash off the ash to be very careful even more-so with your dark colored car. ASH is like pumic, extremely abrasive. I would suggest blasting it first with one of those coin-op do-it-yourself washes just to get the ash completely off then drive it home for the traditional wash. Assuming of course you don't have a pressure wash at home.

One more tip, hose down your roof & trees once you're back home. I learned this from the last big fires we had. So they knock out the fire, ashes stop blowing, can finally wash the car, wash the car only to have more ash fall on it, why? Because the trees and your roof still hold the old fallen ash and the wind blows it off again as the days go by. Learn from my mistakes lol. Disregard if your car is typically garage parked, but be aware if you park & leave on your driveway.

Hey there again, thanks for all the compliments. Maybe I shouldnt have said coats but I did a 2 stage polish job, 2 coats of sealant and the s100. I just get paranoid about having my rims turn yellow due to the crrosiveness of the brake dust etc. Also thanks for the tips everyone, first thing I do next week is blow off all the ash using a leaf blower (ive got one of those 200mph ones). And about the great dane, its always roaming around the cul de sac. very nice dog but itll spook you when your not expecting it.
