Black Ferarri F430 Spyder...Get your popcorn ready

Sometimes you are lucky and maybe sometimes you are just good. Good enough anyway to get a chance to detail one of the finest cars on the road today with one of the best detailers in the country.

A big thanks to Todd (TH0001) for setting up this special detail. After a visit with some family down in FL, I hooked up with Todd and we detailed this Ferrari F430 Spyder.

Process:

Foam gun and 2 bucket wash with Z-7.
Clayed paint with Z-18 and Megs QD while still wet.
Re-wash car with Z-7.
Dry car with electric blower and finish off with WW towels.
Wheels got cleaned with P21s wheel cleaning gel and various brushes.
Tires scrubbed with Megs APC 1:4

Green edge wool/presta 1500/Metabo 1500 x2 in some spots.
White CCS/FPII/Hitachi 1500.
50/50 wipedown.
3x of Z5pro w/ ZFX.
Z8

Tires got Z-16
Wheels got ZAIO

Interior:
Vac
All Carbon Fiber accents got ZAIO
Glass IG

7800 miles and some real use, yes the client tracks this car on a road course. Got to love when a car like this is driven like it should be. As Todd will tell you the client is a track junkie and a great guy. Can it get any better then this?

I started by helping the owner remove the clearbra as he is getting it replaced. We cleaned up the residual adhesive with tarminator.

Before:

During:

Here I am applying some P21S wheel cleaning gel to the OZ Suppraleggera (super lightweight) wheels:

Todd foaming down the car with Z7:

Todd drying the car with the electric blower:

Light scratches and swirls:

At first we tried a green wool pad, that removed a good bit of the defects and left some micromarring. So I tried a yellow wool pad with the Presta 1500. The micromarring was a bit on the extreme side for the soft Ferrari clear as you can see in the next picture. So we decided to go back with the green and hit any areas twice that might need it.

Myself then Todd running the green wool on the Metabo:

FPII and a white CCS pad on the Hitachi:

What bike is that hiding in the corner of the garage?

Nothing special, its just a 2005 MV Agusta F4-1000 Tamburini.

Finals after 3x of Z5pro and Z8:

Amazing....

Just a bummer that they are going to rub off all the wax on the bumper and maybe more to put on the clear bra.
