'04 Porsche 996 GT3 detail

Hey all!!

You've heard me say it before but I'll say it again...I love my job.

Today I had the great pleasure of working on this beautiful GT3 (one of only 750 imported in '04). While I have never been a fan of the 993/996 "squashed egg" headlight arrangement when Porsche slaps a GT3 badge on a car and gives it a 375hp 3.6 liter engine with a 8200rpm redline...well...it quickly makes you forget about any styling miscues!! Hands down one of my favorite 911 variants and more of what I think a "true" Porsche to be. Aside from the leather seats, which have a manual fore/aft adjustment, the interior is very Spartan. There are switch "blanks" everywhere and there is no back seat. This car is purpose built and makes no bones about it.

This particular GT3 shows about 11K on the odo and was in good condition. It was garaged and well kept from day one but did show some moderate marring. The owner is an avid SCCA racer and has tracked this car at Road Atlanta!! It is fitted with the optional ceramic composite rotors of which the owner stated are simply jewels on the track but a little hairy on the street as they need to get good and hot to start clamping well.

Below is a description of the process and products used for the detail.

Enjoy,
Mike

Wash with Meg's Gold Class shampoo

Polish with Optimum Compound using a LC orange pad and my PC set at 5-6.

Polish with Optimum Polish using a LC white pad and my PC set at 5-6.

Seal with Meg's #20 by hand with a foam pad.

Tires and wells have AA.

Lookin nice as always Mike. I don't know if I could have a gravel driveway if I was driving a high buck sports car.

I was looking at it's identical twin last night. It sure didn't look like this one though

Great work like always Mike. It's nice to see some of your work again!
