Mothers Day Detail.

For you guessed it, my mother .

I will start out by saying that I am a novice detailer. Some of my techniques may not be correct and my end results may not be as good as they could be. But, overall I am happy with the end results considering what I was starting with.

My mom wanted to borrow my wife's Grand Prix just to try something different. I said "Sure, just swap with my wife on Friday and she will just drive your car till we see you on Sat." She had no idea that I was planning on cleaning it up for her. She really wants to get a new car but dosnt want to put herself in a tight finacial situation. I was hoping that this would make her feel better about the car she has. As you can see by the pics its not in the best of shape. But I feel she still deserves to have her car look its best despite its flaws. I am looking at getting the little bit of rust and paint chipping fixed if she decides to keep it for a while.

So here is my process.

Friday Evening.

Two bucket wash with wool sheepskin and Meguiars deep crystal.
Eagle One wheel cleaner and Meguiars wheel and tires brushes.
Cleaned all door jambs, under the hood, and trunk.
Nothing too fancy here.

Saturday Morning.

Extetior
Spot clayed with Mothers Clay Bar on lower fenders, rockers, and hood.
Polished deeper and larger scratches with OPHC and LC Orange Pad. PC speed 6.
Polished complete car with OP with LC White Pad on speed 6.
Applied OPS with Meguiars foam applicator.
Treated all rubber and vinyl trim with Sonus Total Eclipse with Meguires foam applicator.
Also treated tires and inner fenders with same.
Buffed off OPS with Der Wunder buffing towel and spritz of OSW.
Topped it off with one more application of OSW.

Interior
Completely vacuum interior.
Clean all interior surfaces with MF towel and Meguiars interior quick detailer.
Clean carpets with Woolite Carpet and Upholstrey cleaner.
Clean windows inside and out with MF towel and Stoner's Invisible Glass.

Honestly, I was pretty tired afterward, since this was my first full detail which had to be done by a certain time. We had to leave my place by 4:00 to meet my mom for dinner. Needless to say she was extremely happy with her Mothers Day gift .

I also have a much greater respect for the professional detailers out there. This has more to do with technique than which product you use to get the job done. I would like to learn more so please post up your thoughts and thanks for looking!!!

Before pics. She said she just washed it that day. Evening pics, sun was just starting to go below the tree line.

And here are the afters. Had a little better sun, midafternoon.

Nice results.

Gorgeous Lab you've got there too. Mine lays JUST like that and occasionally looks at me with a look saying "you're nuts".
