2006 BMW 750Li and 1999 Mercedes CLK 320 (Lots of pics.)

I got these two cars at the same time. The lady that owns them went on a trip for a week or so and I used her garage to detail them while she was gone.

Neither car has ever been machine buffed. The only thing I have ever done to them was a good wash and wax once or twice a year. She took care of the washing otherwise.

The BMW was in good shape for the most part. Swirls from normal washing was the only problem. The Mercedes on the other hand, it had a few problems. Scrathes all over and heavy swirls. This car took quite a bit longer than the BMW. Plus, I am realitively new at machine buffing, so, I haven't really learned the best polishes to use to save time and steps. I am just working with what I have before I will buy some better stuff. So bare with me.

First up, the 1999 Mercedes CLK 320 process...

Exterior
Wash - NXT
Tires - NXT Tire Cleaner
Wheels - Simple Green
Clay - Clay Magic
Wetsand Scratches - 1500 then 2000
Compund Sanding Marks - 3M Imperial Microfinishing Compound w/wool pad (Rotary)
Pinnacle XMT #3 w/LC Orange Light Cutting Pad (PC)
Pinnacle XMT #1 w/LC White Polishing (PC)
Poorboy's Ex-P
Meguiars PlasticX w/LC White Polishing (PC)
P21s Carnuba Wax (on Paint and Lenses) (Hand)
Meguiars NXT Tire Shine
Trim - Armor All
Wheels - Poorboy's Ex-P

Interior
Meguiars Interior Quick Detail
Stoner Glass Cleaner
Blue Coral Dri-Clean Upholstery Cleaner
Meguiars One Step Leather Cleaner

Before the wash...

After the wash, I got to see what I had to work with. Ouch...

After the first pass with XMT #3 w/LC Light Cutting Pad

I noticed that the XMT #3 wasn't cutting enough. So, I moved to the LC Cutting pad and 3M Imperial Microfinishing Compound. It cut everything down nicely.

But, as you can see from the above picture, there was still some micromaring from this polish, so I finished the polishing with XMT #3 and then XMT #1 and this perfected the paint ready for glaze and wax.

Finished Pictures...

BTW, that isn't a buffer hologram or anything on the lower left of the hood, that is a cloud passing over.lol

Interior shot...

Again, after the wash, I got to see what I was working with. Not to bad...

After one pass with XMT #3.

Once made a second pass with XMT #1, the surface was perfect and ready for wax.

Finished pictures...

On the sideskirt in front of the rear wheel, that is a reflection from the ground. Suprisingly, the same reflection is hitting the car before the wash. But, I know for a fact that there isn't a scuff there. The paint is perfect all over the car.

You can see that the reflection fades in this shot.

Mirror shot...

BTW, that isn't a scratch near my leg, that is a twig that I stepped in and it is sticking up on my leg.

Thanks for looking. Good or bad comments welcome.

The BMW looks very black, and the Benz is looking pretty wet in the outdoor pics.
