2004 black G35 coupe, 2001 Civic DX interior

Hey everyone. Been keeping busy - here are the details from Monday/Tuesday. I did one more on a Protege5 but the owner wouldn't let me take pics? Oh well.

2004 black G35 coupe. Overall the paint was pretty swirled and the clay took off a lot of junk, one or two rock chips but nothing major. Infiniti paint is kind of tricky, it likes a lot of passes. It came out pretty well. The only thing that bothered me was the swirls seen on the clear bra are actually under it, so there is no removing them. The weather was lovely - 40F, windy, light mist... The owner has some tasteful mods done so it definitely turns heads. Process was QEW wash, clay, SFX-2 on an orange pad, SFX-3 on a white pad, Z2 Pro, OCW. Interior was vacuum, shampoo carpets, lots of APC, dress with 303.

Interior on a 2001 Civic DX. No access to water so it was kind of tough, but it came out well. The only really tricky part were the scuff plates which I got out using full strength Simple Green Auto and a lot of brushing. Rest of the interior was vacuum, spot clean carpets and seats, megs interior cleaner on all the bits, AIO on the dash plastic, dress with 303.

before

after

Cheers.

that G35 is awesome. good work. those exhaust must get pretty hot to turn blue like that (LOL).

WOw a 'dead pedal' on a civic...guess when you're really pusing it eh?! (i'm a big fan of the 'dead pedal' BTW)

Front license plate on the G35 ftl

other than that great worK!! what do you mean by lots of passes? Like polish for a few minutes, reload, polish some more, than again and again?

Or just polish for quite awhile?

That interior looks amazing considering you had no water to work with!

Ya, Ontario laws Actually cops here are pretty strict about it in my experience too. I got pulled over on the way home from the dealership in my car (still no holes in the front bumper at the time!)

By lots of passes I mean that typically on other cars I will test a spot with say, sfx-2 and an orange pad and if that doesn't do much I'll move up to sfx-1 or a yellow pad, right? With Infiniti paint I've found (since I seem to detail a lot of them) that instead of moving up in abrasiveness it's actually better to just suck it up and do 2 or even 3 passes with say, the sfx-2 on an orange pad. The paint isn't hard, it just seems to want to hold on to some fine scratches sometimes. For example on this one the hood required 3 passes to get it to where I was happy with it. I just found when using harsher polishes (sfx-1, ssr3, etc..) you don't get much better results and you get a lot of hazing, which adds a step anyway (to remove the hazing). Make sense?

Thanks man, I know it isn't perfect but the lack of water kind of caught me off guard. Luckily I carry a couple gallons with me so I just used a spray bottle * a lot* on the mats and stuff. Thanks the detailing gods for woolite!

Cheers fellas.

Oh and steck - that's how that exhaust comes, it's part of the look I guess. I wish I could let you guys hear it - man the VQ sounds good in those stock but with that exhaust it could pass for a V8.
