'01 Honda S2000 & '06 BMW M5 details

Hey all!!

The only thing that kept popping into my head today was "Candyland". You know the game with gum drops and tasty treats for everyone. I felt like I was in Candyland today when I pulled up to my client's home. He had tasty treats for everyone (if you are into cars). Not only did he have the two sweet rides I detailed for him today but he also had a '02 Lightning modded to the max with about 580 rear wheel ponies. His wife drives a brand new SC430 that I'll be detailing next Saturday and he also has a pearl white twin turbo charged SC430 with over 700 rwhp that has been in several magazines!! His garage was a work space every man dreams of...a lift, satellite TV and radio...simply everything!! I can't even begin to describe it...it really was Candyland. The topper to it all was that he is one of the nicest most down to earth people. A true gentleman and just an absolute pleasure to chat with all day.

I originally came into contact with this client through a body shop I have done some work for recently...

http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=67368

The M5 had been in for some service and even though he told the dealer not to wash it...they did...and tore it up. It honestly looked like the wash media they used had some type of grit/dirt in it. I polished the entire car with IP/FP II and sealed with Trade Secret at that time.

He called yesterday and complimented me on the job I did on his Bimmer and said that his wife was going to sell her S2000 and that it needed a good once over. I took care of both that and the M5 again. Someone at his work had run their hands across the car when it had dirt/dust on it so it had some light marring. The S2000 had about 45K on it and had never had a good detail. Below is a description of my products and process for both cars.

Enjoy,
Mike

The details...

S2000

Wash with Meg's Gold Class shampoo

Clay with Clay Magic's clay bar using Meg's #34 as a lube

Polish with Menzerna IP using a LC orange pad and my PC set at 5-6

Polish with Menzerna FP II using a LC white pad and my PC set at 5-6

Seal with Poorboy's Natty's Paste Wax (blue) by hand with a foam pad

M5

Wash with Meg's Gold Class shampoo

Hood was polished with same above Menzerna combo. The rest of the car received FP II via white LC pad.

Seal with TOL's Trade Secret paste wax by hand with a foam pad.

Both cars have AA on tires and wells and VM on exterior glass. The M5 rims have Poorboy's Wheel Sealant.

He just put a new exhaust system on the M5 and you can see the largexhuge tips in this pic. I'd kill the name of the brand if I tried to pronounce/spell it but it is a German made kit and sounds like a daumn F1 car!!!

All leather surfaces have been treated with Poorboy's Leather Stuff.

mmmm...flake!! I believe this color is called "Carbon Black Metallic".

Good old Bimmer OP...

The steering wheel is upside down in this pic but you actually get a pretty good view of the shift paddles.

Wow! Really great work on both cars. Your client is one lucky guy not only to have all those toys, but to have you to take care of them!! Just out of curiousity . . . both cars are black but one car you used Trade Secret and the other Natty's Blue . . . just wondering how you made that choice.

THANKS all for the kind words!!

Paul that about sums it up to a "T". A kid in a candy store was I.

M34u2NV thanks for the correction and I drove it a few feet out of the garage then back into the garage.

hadboosttroy that might be it. Here is a pic of the system that I took before I cleaned the car....

tdekany Indeed...he has!!

Mikeyc I used the Natty blue on the Honda because it was a non-metallic black and have great results with that wax on that color. I used the Trade Secret on the M5 because of the metallic. IMHO the TOL wax deepens the black yet does not mute the flake like some carnaubas do.

Mike, I'll bet no one can find a better looking M5 anywhere. Of course the S2k looks great as well.

GT had told me about your new "friends" at the body shop. Glad to hear its working out so well.
