New Black Charger, first detail newbie

Hi all, thanks to your great site I was able to perform a first detail on my new baby....a Brilliant Black Pearl Charger SRT8. Years ago, I ruined the paint on my new Black Mustang GT trying to wax it, so for this task I was doubly terrified. I spent 2 weeks combing through your archives and reading all the tips and FAQ's and ordering from the autopia store....and here's how I did.

(warning - big files so I'll just link 'em)
Front View

Side reflection

Klasse twins and claybar

Process
Wash wheels
2-bucket car wash
Sonus Claybar
Rinse
Klasse AIO
Buff
Klasse SG
Buff
AIO wheels (the Charger puts off tons of brake dust...hoping this will help)
SG wheels

Plan is to add another layer of SG each week for a couple more, then a layer of P21S. Eventually I want a PC but worried about messing up (yeah, I see the threads that say even I couldn't screw it up...but you guys don't know me yet )

That looks great! Very nice car.

Just curious. How do mess up a paint job by only applying wax?

Did you let it stand on the car for a week while you drove around town because you didn't understand what "haze" meant?

Well......off to the local auto-parts store cuz....they know everything about detailing right?

I get a pimply kid at the counter and explain my situation...he directs me to some Eagle One Cleaning Wax and some synthetic cloths that look like polyester cheesecloth......hmmmm, a bunch of abrasive wax and cloths and plenty of surface pressure by hand, and 4 hours later I'm treated to a new car with all kinds of great fingerprint-like swirl marks all around.....was a very sad day in my young life.

They sure are big! Had a hard time fitting them into my living room.LOL

The Charger is a beautiful car. Glad that you are taking the time to properly protect it.

Nice car & pics!! Try the poorboy's wheel sealant on your rims works great for me, the dust wipes off easily. I put on 2 coats of wheel sealant then freshen it up every 60 days or so.

Will do! Maybe next week after this weekend's SG coat. This weekend, I took it out in the sun and the paint has some beautiful metallic flake in it. Only problem is the car is only clean for about 20min before the dust sets in.....I hate dust!

Sweet! The paint looks deep and wet, just like black paint should!

Glad to hear this detailing session went a lot better for you.
