Unhappy 2002 Dodge Ram Quad Cab

Ugh, what a long and hard day. This week is going to be killer.

This is the Dodge Ram I worked on today, and it was HUGE! Paint was in decent condition, with minor/moderate swirls. (I could see them without my lights). Wheel wells weren't looking to pretty either.

I didn't take any before pictures as it was dark when I started, (6:30 am), and I was short on time, as the owner needed it back ASAP. I'm very lucky its a silver vehicle, as I wouldn't been screwed time wise if it were say...BLACK!

Processes:

Wash and clay horizontal surfaces
Remove Tar (1.5 hours on this bad boy)
Polish out keying marks with SSR3 and spot pad.
Also worked it a little with the rotary to minimize the spot.
Rest of the vehicle received SSR2.5 on a polishing pad.
Topped with NXT.
Wheel wells were scrubbed and cleaned with "No Touch" wheel cleaner.
All plastics topped with No Touch dressings. (I like how this stuff works, especially for 10 cans of it for 10 bucks. )

Pictures:

Nice reflection for silver

After the sun peaked out for one quick shot:

My camera hates flake shots.

And a preview of the 2500 I'm doing this Friday. Look for it in next month's extreme detail contest.

The silver finish looks great and the wheel/tyres look

I must say the "green" Cab is the dirtiest car/truck I've ever seen, baked on mud inside and out - you certainly have your work cut out there. Look forward to seeing the after shots of it, but going by your previous work, it should turn out damn fine

Nice job. Some really good reflection shots for silver too. I was surprised to see mud on the inside of the next truck your going to detail. Good luck!

When you get stuck, you have to open the window so you can check where you're goin. I've done it in the blazer once or twice, not all that fun.

Thanks for the comments.

I have a metallic blue silverado tomorrow morning that will be nice and clean. I can't wait. Then a race talon, thats been fairly well taken care of. Thursday will include a red MX3, followed by his 2500Silverado. Then Friday I'll have the 2500 Ram. Sunday I have a show quality grand am (according to the owner).

Heh, this will be a quite the money grabbin week. I need some for some bills, so I gotta book solid.

Nice work on the silver truck. How much you gonna charge for that green one though?

I quoted him $200. My father did a quote for me on this Silver one. I nearly killed him when he told me he said $100 would do.

Ah yes the memories my friend got his truck stuck next to a ditch.

That his boss "trying" to get it out.

Here an idea how bad it was

After we got it out, the interior looked much like the exterior

It took 3 days to get him out and the day after it rained and the entire area was under water.

Best thing I could suggest would be to take it to a spray wash that has a power washer and knock off the mud there. We did it at my house and it took forever to wash the mud down the driveway.

That guy looks like a retard to take it down a slope like that, sorry. Anyways, it will be a "fun" job none the less.
