Ferrari 308gts Targa detail

Ive just done this for a new customer of mine.
Its an early 308gts targa.
I thinks its a 1985, its a garage queen and has only done 21k.
It was in nice condition to start with, but the paint didnt have much gloss.
I`m afraid the pics I took are as good as I could take, the battery was flat.
It was last out last summer.
So it was clayed using blue magic,
SSR1 with a green sonus pad, the pc set at 4.
A lot of paint tranferred to the pad, I washed it once at the halfway stage.
Then I hand applied VM to the whole car, and a small amound of paint was present on my applicator.
This was followed by #16, giving it a much deeper red and high gloss.
Rear lights had plastx on them.
Wheels were clayed and VM applied.
Tailpipes polished up nicely with Autoglym metal polish.
A lengthy detail, nothing fancy, but very effective.
The owner was delighted and was going to recommend me to his friends.

A good detailing day.

Great detail.

I just wish we had a front and side angle view. These fine cars can be had for reasonable money now by the way.

Nice work. A car like that should be driven more often

Cheers fellas,
I wish it could have been backed out, as it looked so good.
I`ll update the pics once the car has been prepared for its 1st outing.
I may have some exotica to content with in future... ie classic Bugattis and SS Jags etc...
I`ll keep my fingers crossed.

It is a shame we can't see more of the car, however it does look like a great job

Excellent job M4xmw.

SilverLexus, the 308GTS are still demanding good money here in Australia. A acquaintance of mine recently sold his at auction for A$65,000. It was in great condition with about 40,000 miles up. Red of course

Thanks Hemi57,
I forgot to mention that this 308 is a rare early model, with the bodywork being glassfibre.
They then changed to steel for the rest of production.

m4xmw,

Wow, I have heard about that early production model built in fibreglass. That would be a rare unit.

Fibreglass would be good to weather the climate over there in the UK.

I recall a recent AutoWeek auction blurb about a 308. It had some ridiculously low miles. I don't keep my AutoWeeks, but it was in the last month or two. I tried searching their website, and here's a good article on the 308, though not the one I was looking for:

http://www.autoweek.com/article.cms?articleId=100266

I guess I didn't grow up in the right era, but I always thought the idea of paying $40-50k for one of the less-visually-exciting Ferraris (at least it's not a 412) with a middling 200-240hp motor was rather absurd. Maintenance would be very costly, and 80's Camaros would be eating your lunch from a stoplight.

However, excellent work on the detail! What we can see of the car looks very well cared for!
