Look what I had a chance to work on this PM

I put out some flyers last friday in a nice neighborhood with the help of my girlfriend. Yesterday I got an e mail from a woman that wanted a full detail. I called her this afternoon to see if I could take a look since she isn't that far away from my house. She asked me if I would do it today instead - I said YES!!

This is what I see.

It is a 1997.

I really don't mind working on trashed cars, but when you have to hurry up too!....

Her husband was coming home and I guess she didn't feel compfortable me being there so I had to hurry up. Naturally I couldn't do the job I wanted to do.

I have to go back tomorrow to do the interior.

This picture doesn't show how bad the hood was. In fact the whole car was swirled up to the max.

Washed/clayed
started with the trunk.
ssr 2.5 with yellow pad (ok)
ssr 3 with yellow pad much better
#80 white pad - looked better but wasn't all gone.

rest of the car ssr 2.5 with white pad which left a nice finish, so to save time: 1 - I couldn work the product in so instead of going super slow, I went a little faster.and
2 - I went right to NXT tech wax.

the hood received additional work as well, but again I had to compromise. Out of the sun the paint looked good She liked it at least.

I will take after pictures tomorrow.

The top received a coat of 303 while the tires got AA.

I can't wait to get my Makita guys - 2 more days!!!!!

To work out this kind of finish with the pc... it takes me too long.

- and the finish isn't even satisfactory!! Not to me at least. And it wouldn't to you either.

Let's see what it looks like tomorrow.

TC
I do appreciate your thoughts, thanks.

However these are all before pictures.

the trunk looked the worst, followed by the hood, except that in this picture the scretches are not showing.

It is truly frightening what some people do to their cars.

Don't feel too bad not being able to bring it to your standards, sometime you are given so little to work with you just aren't going to be able to completely correct the paint problems.

Thanks Scottwax for your kind words.

Does it ever happen to you?

Why do I dare to ask?

The trunk lid looks like they used a scouring pad or steel wool on it. With black it is even more noticeable. You'll have to post some after pics tomorrow. I'm sure that whatever you got done, it was a big improvement.

mtodde - I should be there by 4:00pm and the first thing I'll do is take pictures, then hit the inside of the car. (with a hammer! )

You gotta wonder what people are thinking. What in the world do people wash and dry their cars with?

Thats the problem David, too many people take their cars to the corner wash/gas stop. They either drive it thru the blue brush beast, or have some kid making minimum wage who really just doesnt give a rats butt. Then of course theres the wknd high school fund raiser. Ive never seen so many sponges flailing in the air at once, and where do they ultimately end up ? The ground...lol

Well, it IS pretty tempting, when you pass a corner with the entire local high schools cheerleading squad wanting to wash your car... although they don't seem to understand marketing, as they're never in bikinis.
