My friend told the painter he wanted the absolute perfect paint job and he was willing to pay for it.

Base coat, clear coat. 12 coats clear.

If your interested, it also has a 455 bored to 30 over...its a BEAST!

That is a goergous car with a stunning paint job! Love the classic GTOs and that's one of the best I've seen. I envy the owner. What a car.

Isn't having too much clear a bad thing? Wouldn't it make the paint more prone to cracking after a door ding or something like that? I know for a show car its probably fine, but I thought I read somewhere that too many clear coat layers is a bad thing.

I was told by the owner that it makes dings easy to fix because the clear is so thick, you never have to worry about getting down to the base coat. Wet sand 2000 and polish, that's it.
