I spent 5 hours today detailing one of my parents cars, it's a 1994 Volvo 850, 90k miles with some oxidation, swirls and scratches, always garaged kept but hasn't seen wax or anything else on over 5 years, but washed weekly at the car wash I used 3M PI-IIIMG with yellow pad on PC7424, then Klasse AIO and SG by hand, finishing with Sonus spray. I got about 90% of the swirls out, ran out of time. But I think it turned out decent for a decade old car!

    Nice job!

Did you have trouble with the trim? I used DACP and there's still stains from splatter. I find Volvo's paint are pretty good but hard, I use a LC yellow pad for the whole car.

That first reflection shot was unbelievable. I had to go back to it once I saw that the car was red. Great work!

Hey thanks everyone, my first time with a problem car, but I did stain a small part of the side molding with the 3M. It's a pain to get off, I wll probably mess with it next week. I did have to press harder on certain spots to remove swirls and scratches, I wish Audi paints are just as hard too. I need to get some DACP!

    Looks really excellent!

You should fill the rents in on some of your detailing/washing knowledge .

I was able to get rid of the white polish stains by using a used toothbrush and an old bottle of STP Citrus Degreaser at full strength. Taping prior to polishing or waxing the 850 is a must, as I've learned out the hard way!

I did tape all the emblems, side markers and trunk keyhole, but too lazy for side molding. I have some Stoners Tarminator that I will try out. BTW, I discovered using Sonus on the trim it leaves a nice matte smooth finish too.
