My Newly Tinted Windows

I just had my windows tinted over the holidays, 50% all around. My last 7 had a darker tint (5%) in the rear window and 35% on the rear seat windows, but none on the front seat windows. This time I wanted to have protection all around. I think it came out pretty good.

I also tried topping AIO + PUPP with Pinnacle Signature Wax. These pics don't really show it but I think the PSW adds more of a richer depth and shine to the PUPP.

Here are a few pics.

Cheers,

That's 50%? Wow. It looks a lot lighter than that. Still, it adds a great deal to the car. Even if you get the lightest tint you can get I think adding it to a car is a great idea. I thought that adding any tint to the front two side windows was illegal in California. Has that changed?

It always makes me laugh when I see these cars at shows with $10,000 in engine mods and other styling mods and they have crystal clear windows. lol What's the fun in that? I'm not saying they need a 5% tint, but at least get something on there. Anyway, It looks great, dude. Good choice.

Looks really good! I think having the same tint all the way around looks better.

Your car looks amazing as always!

Jngrbrdman,

No it is not leagal to have the front windows tinted in CA.

I saw another titanium silver 7 series with the 50% tinted windows on Bimmerforums and thought that it looked good so I thought I would give it a try.

Cheers,

Interesting. Have they changed the law recently then? According to the California vehicle code you can't do it. This site says it too. Its always been an issue of lament for the guys in my Integra club in California. Since tegs are coupes it sucks to not be able to tint the windows on the doors.

whoops... I thought your other post said "illegal". LOL Sorry bout that. It does look good. I had my front windows too dark till recently too. It only cost me 60 bucks to get the old tint peeled off and new tint put on so I could pass. Its not really that bad of a ticket either. You've got to get busted by a real pain in the *** cop for them to hit you with it anyway. Its not like you blacked out your windows or anything.

Looks nice!

Wonder how they would interpret that law on my car...?

I know Illinois is the same..you cant have tint in the front. But what if it's only on half?

If you dont mind AMP, what did that cost you? You can PM me if you'd prefer.

I'm definately going to get some kind of tint on my car before this summer, I dont like the really black look and I think that 50% may be really what I'm looking for.

Also, does it bother you having the side windows and not the front windshield tinted? Or is your windshield tinted too (thats illegal everywhere I think).

Thanks, looks great!

I have all my windows tinted minus the winshield, and it doesnt bother me at all, it still makes a huge difference in the light in the car, nice shade darker, i would definitly recomend a tint ALL the way around, minus the winshield

GoodnClean,

It was $270. total. I had 3M non-metallic tint installed and it does not affect the am/fm reception at all. Newer BMW's have their antenna on the rear windshield and older metallic tint ruined the am and sometimes fm stereo reception.

Cheers,

That's sweet. I'm all for reasonable tints. I've got 50% on my side windows; it looks good plus it doesn't hinder visibility. A friend of mine has had to rip the tint off the windows of his Ram multiple times because it won't pass inspection and he won't give up his 5%. I didn't want to deal with that.
