Dog + Door = Bad combination

so one of my clients calls me all freaked out because apparently a dog jumped on his drivers door and now it was all scratched up. The car is a Mazda CX9 and over all it took some work but I am happy with the results..

Before: As you can tell there are definitely scratch marks, and over all there were 3 places on the door that looked just like this...

During:

After: Nice and perty!

Steps:
Wash
Clay
Wash
2 passes with Prima Swirl Remover
1 Pass Prima Finish
Wash
IPA
1 Pass Prima Amigo
1 Pass Prima Epic LSP

Client was blown away and said he is just completely astounded at how good it looks.

Re: Dog + Door = Bad combination

Good save, after reading your post in the other thread I was expecting something much deeper/worse.

[Insert rant here about people who don't a) keep their dogs' nails trimmed and, b) train them to behave properly around vehicles ]

Re: Dog + Door = Bad combination

glad to see that it all worked out. So did you just have to spot buff or correct the entire vehicle? Was thinking it might look a little off one swirl free area and the rest of the car left alone =)

Re: Dog + Door = Bad combination

I did the whole door. I gave him the option of me doing the area or the whole door. He wanted the whole door done so I did it.

I used a white pad is 1 step behind the finishing pad. I went mild on the pad and pretty mild on the polish too. I just did more steps..

Thanks
Joe

Re: Dog + Door = Bad combination

dude...seriously...the paint on this thing was freaking awesome. When I finished it up I hit it with the lights and I was literally looking right back at myself going..."holy Sh**!"...the paint was awesome and actually pretty nice to work with.

Re: Dog + Door = Bad combination

once we made the mistake to left a car overnight in my office parking lot and apparently a cat sat on top of the car... and we have watch dogs... ohh yeah... you can imagine the damage... there were no place left untouched... we had to repaint that car... but now i realize we could just buff it out...

Re: Dog + Door = Bad combination

Very nice!

We have a few local cats that find their way onto the hood, then proceed to slide down it. One or two about like that. Great turnaround!
