2002 Wrx

Hey all, this is my friends wrx that had lots and lots of rust spots in the paint, and he wanted to see if we could get it out.

We don't trust ourselves with a buffer quite yet so everything was done by hand. We are no where near good at detailing but i think we did OK.

We washed the car with Dawn using the 2 bucket method to help the old wax and other stuff come off. We then clay bared the car.

Here is one b4 we hit it with clay.

Every part of the car looked just like that. This is my clay after a small amount of hood.

Here is the back bumper being done. Notice the rusty water coming off.

We then washed the car to get any residue off from the clay and started to wax
here is what the bumper looked like after clay but b4 wax

As you can see its not 100% but looks 10X better IMO

Here are the afters

And one of mine

Thanks for looking,
Jeff

Nice work! Now you can see the work the claybar does!

When you want to step it up before you get your machine polisher spend some money on a DECON KIT.

It really will make a difference to white, esp. when you consider the condition that paintwork was in, much more is still to come out of it with a decon kit!

Re: 2002 Wrx

What exactly does a decon kit consist of? And does it essentially do the same thing as a claybar?

Re: 2002 Wrx

DECON = paint decontamination. I believe that Automagic coined the term. Now associated with clay, but in the past has also been used in conjunction with safe acids and solvents to remove hard water deposits, overspray, factory fallout, rail dust, etc.
