Lexus LS430 Rejuvenation

While I preformed regular waxes for this client's leased Lexus, when the lease was up, and they decided to purchase the vehicle. Since the purchase, I re-cleared the formerly hazy headlight housings, thoroughly cleaned the leather (woolite dilution + Leather Master's), cleaned the floormats after winter (soaked, scrubbed, extracted), treated all weather stripping (shin-etsu grease), applied Aquapel to the windshield, and rewaxed the paint to keep it protected.

Now the client pulled the trigger on renewing the paint, with scheduling weekly washes to keep it looking new.

I arrived in the rain, but the wax was still holding up.

washed with Meg's Super Soap, a white shmitt, and two bucket method (of course with grit guards), then clayed using Adam's mild clay with ONR as clay lube.
Pretty light contaimination as a whole, but was bad on the lower panels, especially to the rear of the wheels

Re-rinsed, dried with waffle weave mf's, and pulled in for inspection under the lights.

The vehicle was suffering from 5 years of weekly to bi-weekly washes at a local swirl-o-matic. This is one of those cars you'll never see dirty as the owner takes pride in the vehicle, like many Lexus', Benzes, and BMWs on the road suffering from the same condition.

Coming into this job, the owner and I already discussed the target being for a 70-80% correction rate to renew the vehicle's surface without taking the time required for 95%+

I tried several different combo's until I settled using Menzerna IP + flat LC orange....

followed by Menzerna 106 + Detailer's domain blue...

The combo proved to be gold on the body panels

and the uncleared B-pillars

Re: Lexus LS430 Rejuvenation

While the orange + IP combo knocked out the majority of swirls, the 106 finishd down very nicely to get rid of small haze and halograms

ISA wipedowns proved the results favorable, and here are some pre-LSP shots

And finally, after Pinnacle Souveran....

thanx for looking!

Re: Lexus LS430 Rejuvenation

Great job! I'm on my second black Lexus and can tell you the paint is pretty soft so it can be difficult to work with. You did a great job.

Re: Lexus LS430 Rejuvenation

thanx guys

Vforce - i found the paint to not be too bad. i've heard these things have soft paint, but i was surprised if anything to find it slightly harder than i originally thought

dave - yea i don't know if the cat is a good or bad omen

darkstar - i didn't put tire shine on it prior to the pics, but no worries, it's looking good!

Good turnaround! The black cat is good to go with the black car.

Re: Lexus LS430 Rejuvenation

Very nice change! I'm impressed!

I used to have a black kitty that looked very much like that one - was interesting to see peoples reactions..

Re: Lexus LS430 Rejuvenation

thanx dsms, the 50/50's really turned out nice (as always with black i think) though this car really wasn't in the worst condition as people who have washed with dirty rags. nothing but swirl-o-matic damage

themethod - i appreciate it and i agree

thanx you Mike!
