1937 Cord ready for the show!

I have been eyeing this car in the collection for quite some time. I see the beauty in the older cars but this one has always caught my eye. Everything is original on this car including the paint. Usually these cars have been restored and repainted. But after close examination and paint readings all over the world, it was pretty simple to conclude that this paint was as old as the car.

I am not much at sitting with the computer and mapping out every step I do so I will just list what I used and post some pictures.

Makita
Meg's 105
Menz IP
Ultrafina UF

Yellow, white Sonus pads
Orange, white LC pads
PF whool

Five different kinds of chrome polish

Re: 1937 Cord ready for the show!

Thanks smprince. It is only 1 of three ever made with an estimated value over three hundred grand. It is actually a joy to drive also. Most of the older cars in the collection just kind of get in the way of traffic. But this one has a little bit of spunk to it.

Very nice, too bad they don't make cars with good lines anymore. Nice work

Beautiful job - wonderful automobile!

I'm jealous; I would love to have a chance to detail a piece of art and history like that!!

Re: 1937 Cord ready for the show!

Thanks guys!! The nice comments are much appreciated.

percynjpn- I am working on the "jewel" of the collection as we speak. Talking about history, the car has been in three Elvis movies. It has an estimated value of three MIL!!!!!
But just sitting in the cars brings a sence of awe thinking about the history. They all get scheduled to be driven and that is nothing short of a strange trip.

Lawrencea- The owner is a huge Cord, Auburn and Duesenburg fan. These cars are amazing compared to the vehicles that were built in the same time period. Plus the price tags on them compared to todays prices are astounding.

Re: 1937 Cord ready for the show!

Nice recovery! I think TD just bought it becasue it's black. What show is it going to?

The Veyron was sitting out in the rain Friday & Saturday - guess you've got some work to do on it now?

What fine work, I bet getting into all those tight spaces was a chore. Any polishing by hand?

Re: 1937 Cord ready for the show!

Scott- what's up? I was watching cart racing the other day and realized I never responded to a PM. Sorry! Busy with shows and keeping up with dirty cars.

Does this look like the car?

[IMG][/IMG]

This car gets a lot of attention. But keeping TD's cars swirl free is a losing proposition. Got to admire him for believing a car is just a car. Even if it a Veyron!
