BMW 645Ci Convert - Stunning Stratus Metallic

Just finished this extremely nice 645Ci for the dealer. He has a buyer that also wanted to put a set of genuine "M" wheels and de-badge the model lettering on the trunk.

Light compounding (3M Perfect-It) with foam followed by 3M Dark Glaze got the finish error free. For wax, I used 2 products: Pinnacle Souveran and a sample bottle (from Detail Fest) of Detailer's Pride Premium Surface Shield. What a smooth and deep finish!

With "M" wheels installed

Outside on a sunny day

I really like the DP product as a sealant. Easy on/off and the surface is super slick.

Very wet and glossy!

I've tried DP's Premium Surface Shield. Very nice product, reminds me of UPP.

Nice job Toto! What you're process/products for cleaning engines. Do you avoid certain things with any of them?

Thanks for the compliments David (and all you other Autopians!)

For engine compartments, I use Auto Magic's Degreaser on a cold engine and let it dwell for a couple of minutes. Then spray with a power washer and cold water, and dry with compressed air and old terry towels. This removes any water spotting and gives a nice appearance to the compartment.

With Bimmer's heavy use of plastic panels to dress the engine compartment (there's an engine in there somewhere LOL), I don't have to avoid spraying certain areas.

The degreaser is very similar to the kerosene based Gunk product (sure smells the same IMO).

Re: BMW 645Ci Convert - Stunning Stratus Metallic

Thanks. Which Auto Magic degreaser are you using? Also, what engine protectant are you using?

David: beats the heck out of me which one it is! The dealer buys it in 5 gallon containers along with Spoke. I'll find out which one today when I go to the shop to finish a quick detail on a customer's 745Li. I don't use any engine protectant. After power washing off the degreaser, there is enough residue to darken the rubber and plastic components. Drying with air and old towels produces a very nice "OEM" compartment.

Re: BMW 645Ci Convert - Stunning Stratus Metallic

The color is great, work is great, but even those wheels are no help for this hopelessly ugly automobile.
