Re: Detail: 02 Explorer (wet sanding, scratches, rotary)

Thanks man...I forgot to mention that there were hardly any swirls on this truck from my last time detailing it, but this was a revisit and it really needed it. I'd like to think I've gotten the hang of touch up paint/wet sanding pretty well. The owner (my dad was very pleased/impressed) and said I've come a long way in the past 6 months with my detailing skills, and I owe most of it to this site! There were some nasty bird etchings/hard water spots, along with scratches...pictures really don't do it a whole lot of justice...you'd have to see it in person, it looks nothing like a 7 year old truck

Looks BRAND NEW!!!! Amazing!! Quick question.... I've always wet sanded in a back and forth straight line motion.. i notice,or at least i think i saw that you use yours in a circular motion.. Do you find that to be more efficent? I never tried.

Re: Detail: 02 Explorer (wet sanding, scratches, rotary)

lol thanks bro.

as for the circular motion, i did that only on the hood in areas that had water spots and it seemed to work perfectly...i used a 2000 grit with a LOT of soapy water and it was simple to get out and left no marring when compounded

Beautiful job, extremely glossy paint. Looks like a new truck.
