My first "semi-intense" detail job!

I'd like to start by saying i have never used a claybar. all i have ever done for my car is simple washes with a quick wax afterwards and tire shine on the tires. Yesterday i spent over 3 hours cleaning my car. i'll admit i didnt do the best job possible, but i think i did a pretty good job for my first time.

Since this was my first time i just went up to Autozone and bought all my supplies there. I know they aren't top of the line supplies but i figure i mine as well learn what im doing before i spend a lot of money on equipment.

My process was simple, just a wash, claybar and wax. Then i cleaned the tires and windows. Nothing out of the ordinary, but its my first time so i wanna show off.

Washed: Eagle One

Windows: Eagle One glass cleaner

Clay Bar: Mequiars Smooth Surface Clay bar

Wax: Eagle One Nanowax Paste

Tires: Meguiars Tire Shine

the red really does look wet. awesome job for over the counter products. i still think the clay bars over the counter are way better than others. looks amazing keep up the good work.

the only thing i dont like buying over the counter are drying and polishing towels. I am yet to find a decent drying towel in a store. I'll definately be ordering those soon. Other then that all the soaps, waxes and clay bars that you can get over the counter are along the "you get what you pay for" stance. the more you spend, the more you get.

check out KMart and O'Reilly (I think) for some of the Viking line of towels. They have some that are really nice.

Great job.

If you ENJOY detailing, which most here do (or is it an obsession?), you'll find your quick 3-hour job become a full-day job. Before you know it, you have a couple machines, a carpet extractor, and a garage (AND basement) full of products that you only use a handfull of. You'll walk with a hunch, your hands will always be tingling from PC vibration, you'll smell like sweet cherry, and your eyebrows will have Menzerna dust in them.

Now that's something to look forward to...but your ride will always look better than a car off the showroom floor.
