Driven Auto Detail: 2004 Cadillac Deville

This 2004 Cadillac Deville was a referral from a local body shop. Any GM paint that I work on always seems to be on the tough side. This vehicle had some swirls but weren't that noticeable until I got the halogens out. I couldn't see any with the Brinkmann handheld light gun. This was a Full Detail and in this package I provide one polishing step.

On a side note, this car took 6.5 hours to complete. I feel like it's a little on the long side, however, it was a large car. Looking through my process, what's everyone's opinion on how long this took?

EXTERIOR
-Wash with Optimum Car Wash
-Tires with Optimum Tire Shine
-Wheels with Optimum Car Wax
-Clay
-Polish with UDM / W-8006 / Optimum Compound / speed 6
-Opti-Seal applied to paint
-Windshield with UDM / W-8006 / Poli-Seal / speed 6
-Engine with Meg's Hyper-Dressing 2:1

INTERIOR
-Vacuum
-Carpets & mats pre-treated with Folex then cleaned with steamer
-Plastics cleaned with Woolite/Water (8:1)
-Leather cleaned with Woolite/water (8:1) and leather brush
-Leather & plastics protected with Optimum Protectant Plus
-Glass cleaned with DG Rain Repel

Unfortunately, the sun was MIA once again. I took some after pics inside and some outside after the rain let up.

Re: Driven Auto Detail: 2004 Cadillac Deville

Thanks Labster. Weather is AWFUL today. Yesterday it was in the 40's and then last night we got hit with thunderstorms, tornado warnings, hail, wind, and then snow. It was 9* this morning and my 8-month old Tacoma would barely turn over. I don't know what the wind chill was, but it had to be in easily had to be in the negative digits. All the roads were ice this morning. What about in Ohio?

I have always applied opti seal after poli seal. Seems you did it the other way around.

Re: Driven Auto Detail: 2004 Cadillac Deville

I only applied PS to the windshield. The paint only received Opti-Seal.

Re: Driven Auto Detail: 2004 Cadillac Deville

Nice work Mike, only trouble I ever had outta my Tacoma was the AC Delco battery that came in it (mine lasted 6 months) haha. It was a '96 V6 4wd in sierra beige metalliic, 6in. Trailmaster suspension lift, 3inch Trailmaster body lift and 2.5 inch Downey off road leaf springs with a 1inch block instead of the stock leafs with a 3inch block that came with the susp kit. Dang I miss that truck. Fosgate system, tint, bed cover.... Ahh the days b4 marraige when I had money... haha.

I worked at Toyota for 2 years and thats a common problem i've noticed with ALL newer toyotas. Everyday during the winter i replaced at least 3-5 battery's a day and this was in GA. The low would normally be around 35-40.

Other wise nice detail! Ill have to try polishing the windshield. I heard it makes it look really clear as well as help water bead up.

Re: Driven Auto Detail: 2004 Cadillac Deville

Got_Leather - You should try it sometime. Since it's a really good AIO, it'll clean the windshield and protect it which means the water will bead up nicely.

integritydetail - Sounds like you had one helluva truck! I've never had a Toyota before and I absolutely love my truck. Battery could be better though .

Carbon Blue - The UDM is a good next step from the PC. Definitely more powerful. Although, I'm trying to learn the rotary. Plus, I just got the Flex in the mail yesterday. I'll probably leave the UDM for spot buffing with 4" pads now.

Tripperfx3 - I didn't realize they had such a problem with batteries. I'll keep that in mind come next winter. If you have some PS, definitely give it a shot on the windshield. You could also use Opti-Seal or a combination of both (PS, wait an hour, then OS).

Thanks guys!
