Re: Do You Stress About Money?
I made sacrifices when I was younger because I did stress out about finances. I learned when I was young not to over extend myself...I rarely used a credit card and to this day have never had credit card debt.
I must admit I have been blessed ....now in my 50's...I am not strapped but at my age I am concerned about my retirement....my 401k is in aggressive stocks and the last 8 months I have invested in other mutual funds.
Well..I know I sound like I am rambling but I guess I now stress more about my health....if you have your health....you are way ahead of the game..........

Re: Do You Stress About Money?
Well,
I've made a lot of financially sound decisions in my life that lead to a rather healthy savings account, which comes with its own stresses. Hell I could own a really fancy car or squeek by being a homeowner, but I'm conservative in that fashion. Unfortunately the woman I love is in graduate school for physical therapy. I love her enough to inherit her 100k debt.
p.s. The debt is unfortunate, my love for her is not

Re: Do You Stress About Money?
I've got pretty modest tastes in life, so when it's just me I can live on pennies.
Back when I had my ex-girlfriend though, money was always a source of stress. She tried to buy her way to happiness (luckily about 90% of it was on her tab) and failed. I learned a few valuable lessons from that meltdown - mostly that money can't buy happiness and living below your means isn't as bad as it sounds.

Re: Do You Stress About Money?
I been on a budget such as not buying detailing supplies that I don't need. I have enough that will last me till a year or 2.
I cut off my XM radio, I try to eat at home at least 5 or 6 days of the week.
I try to make all my errands on one trip so I don't have to keep stopping the engine and waste more gas.
I buy things at the grocery store that I will only eat instead of buying, and restocking items in the pantry that will never be touched.
I go out to a nice restuarant at least twice a month...
Oh and I stopped drinking at bars........... wasted my money during that time

Re: Do You Stress About Money?
For 4 years I was the only one working. At first it was my girlfriend, her son (7 when we met) and myself for 2 years. We lived in FL I worked no less then 75 hours a week. She stayed at home took care of the house. Then 2 yrs later we had a son so now there is 4 of us and one income. I recieved pay changes every year for 3 years I was workin in FL and all for less money. So we moved to TN to be near her family and that sucked, worked 2 jobs 7 days a week. Came to SC and work in Charlotte, things where better but we watch every penny. Well now we are going through a seperation and soon it will just be my son and I and I hope to be able to save money this time.

Re: Do You Stress About Money?
I have been single income for the last 9 years (family of 4 with twin 8 year old girls) and honestly this is the first year that I have really felt the pinch. We live modestly, both vehicles long since paid off, have a reasonable mortgage(bought in 2000 before the insane housing boom), and transferred to a closer job (originally traveled 67miles each way to work). However, energy cost, food costs, school (wife went back to nursing school), etc have taken their hit. I know it is cyclical and my wife will have a job waiting after her graduation, but I cannot wait until then. Detailing is actually my stress relief ( to quote James May i.e. Captain Slow,"clean your car, clear your mind")

Re: Do You Stress About Money?
I stress about money, but only because I don't want to stress about it later. My wife and I are on a 5 year plan to pay off all of our student debt ($170k). We live comfortably, but have to be tight with our extra money. Most of it goes to paying down the principle on our loans. I don't even want to see the "extra" money because I love new toys. Autopia definitely doesn't help me not spend money.

Re: Do You Stress About Money?
Stressing a bit, but just looking forward to getting out of school and making a lot of money. I should have a job waiting for me with my degree, so I just keep that in mind (international business with a minor in Japanese).

Re: Do You Stress About Money?
well, financial problems, "stress", im currently suffering from. I have been out of "steady" work for 2 years now bouncing around from place to place. Not many people in sc really care about getting a professional detail done. I have a culinary degree, but unfortunatly cannot get employment due to the restrictions of my hours. At night I have to watch my daughter while my wife's in school for dental hygiene. Just for a little bit of icing on the cake, my wife's 5 1/2 months pregnant with my second daughter. That doesn't add to the stress at all, LOL. In the past 6 months I have emailed 237 copies of my resume with no luck. Sometimes I dont know what to do. Sorry for making you guys read my problems. But on the upside, I have no credit card debt and niether does my wife. I can only prey something happens soon.
-debby downer, LOL
