Porsche Club - Zone 8 Concours Judging School

Hi All,

Just a quick annoucement for PCA members in Zone 8 (SoCal, NV & AZ). The annual Concours Judging School will be held 13 March.

It is once again being held at 27101 Aliso Creek Rd, Suite 106, Pacific Park Plaza, Aliso Viejo courtesy of Richard Price. Seeing Richard’s collection of cars is enough to warrant attending the school! The school will run from 8.30am to 3.00pm and lunch will be provided. Cost is $15 a person.

So why attend the judging school? Well the most obvious reason is so you have the necessary skills and knowledge needed to judge at a Zone 8 events. But attending the judging school is also a great way to learn how to compete at a Concours event. Knowing where the judges are going to look is key to being a successful competitor. We will also have a session on how to prep your car for a concours, as well as Mike Phillips from Meguiars will be demonstrating various detail techniques. Mike is one of the most knowledgeable car care professionals I have ever met. If you want to learn more about looking after your pride and joy….just listen to Mike!

And finally if you intend to compete for an End of Year Concours Trophy, you will need to show you car a minimum of 4 times (incl one event in AZ or NV) and earn a minimum of 300 service points. Turning up to 4 events is pretty easy, but earning the service points will be tough if you have not attended the judging school. You can earn 50 service points by volunteering at an event or 100 points by judging.

A registration form for the event can be found at :
http://www.pca.org/zone8/ads/MAR/JudgesSchool2004.pdf

Hope to see you on the 13th of March.

“JB” James Brackenrig
Zone 8 Concours Chair

~One man’s opinion, observation~

Thanks for the information on the PCA annual Concourse Judging School for Porches events.

I don’t think you’ll find many that would detract from your statement about Mike Phillips of Meguiar’s.

~Hope this helps~

JB,

Any chance an "Outsider" can go to this event? I'd love the opportunity to meet up with the Porsche enthusiasts in SoCal and see some amazing cars. I would also love to know more about how cars are judged and what to look for.

Besides my car was made by Porsche, maybe an exception can be made.

Thank You JB!

Check will be in the mail this week so long as my wife is cool with me going.

Will you be showing your car at the Palm Springs Classic in March? The concours event unfortunately is only open to older vehicles but the Saturday prior is a shown and shine, would be cool to see you and your perfect Boxster there.

Thanks again for this opportunity.
