Question Entering Into Car Shows?

I finally own a car I love (1992 500E Mercedes) and I want to start entering it into Concourse shows. The question is how do I find these shows and how do I figure out which category to enter.

The car has a few minor reversible modifications such as European Spec Headlights, a custom grille and hopefully soon new wheels. Everything else on the car is factory stock including paint, trim, interior etc....

I'm not sure I've provided enough information, if not please let me know other important factors.

Any help would be really apreciated.

First of all that's a fabulous car! Congratulations!

The perfect shows for you are the European Auto shows. Sometimes they are catagorized by country (German) or marque (Mercedes).

Look in the weekend newspapers under the car sections where they have Events listed. The car shows will be listed there. Also check out the local Mercedes Club. They will be full of info. If you don't have a local one join the National Club anyway, they have a National Calendar and you would be surprised how many events there are around the country.

Here are some pics of last years European Car Show in St. Louis. This year we expect over 150 cars!

Just find out if there is an MB club that meets locally for events. I am a member of the regional Porsche club here and have gone to 2 concours and other driving events. I am planning on entering a concours event but am afraid of all the work that will be required to win. If I enter then I must win.

Brad, I got an http/404 error message on that link. Maybe it's because I'm now on a dial-up line.

But ...what's the scoop on the Euro show in St. Louis? With 2 Jags and a Benz, my interest is piqued!

Brad,

Thanks for the compliment and the help.

I hesitated to join the local MB chapter earlier this year, the website apparently isn't updated often and I was under the opinion it wasn't active. But after you mentioned looking in the paper I realized that the club sends out a monthly magazine which I'm sure has the latest shows in it.

Lapis,

I'll definitely get involved with the local MB chapter. I am already part of a Mercedes forum (www.mercedesshop.com), a few of us meet regularly for drives, tech sessions and chatting. A couple of us are meeting with the Ferrari guys/gals this weekend for a rally. But for the most part it seems no one on the MB Forum is into car shows and concourse, must be some kind of sickness.

Try a Google search for "car shows california" or variations of that theme.

Lynn, those Coupes of yours would bookend that Benz perfectly! The EAS has several JAGSL members signed up already. We will close registration at 150 cars. INCREDIBLE show! You must come! In fact, I will drag you there so just give up and send in the registration now. (If you didn't get one email me your address and I will mail one to you.)

Sorry the link didn't work for you. I checked, it's good.

You're crackin' me up, Brad. OK, now I remember; that's the flyer you handed out last month. I have it at home, and am considering it. C'mon, twist my arm just a little harder.
(And, you're right: the link's fine; I was on a slow dial-up last night.)

Well ... looks like I don't have any choice.

(By the way, Brad, you really do have a thing for that grill, don't you? )
