need opinions for tint

Hi everybody. I want to get the windows on my Civic tinted. I asked a local shop and they quoted $159 and if I wanted a strip across the windshield it will be an extra $12. That doesn't sound too bad. The tint law for Florida is 28% front and 15% back. I am contemplating on whether to get 30% all around or 30% front and 20% in the back, but this is my first car and none of the other cars in my family have tint so I don't know which one looks better. So I would like to get your opinion. And does the 2% percent between 28 and 30 make a dramatic difference in the darkness of the tint? And maybe if you could some pics? Thanks in advance.

Also, how good is Llumnar tint?

I had Kustom Kreations do my front windows in the Fronty, I think the price you're getting is great. I owuld not put the windshield strip in, but it is personal preference. I have not seen the Lumnar (sp) tint, but I could ask my buddy who does tint what he thinks when he gets back from vacation. Lastly, I think you could go with 25% and darker in the back, I have seen some pretty dark tint around our area and was disappointed K.K. would not make my fronts darker than 30%.

What color is your car? I've seen a silver civic with really dark tint, and it looks tacky.

My Expedition came with nothing on the two front doors and the equivalent of 20% on the rest of the windows (factory privacy glass). I added 20% to the front windows, and additional 35% to the rest of the windows, nothing on the windshield.

taffeta white. I don't think it should be that bad since I have the VP and it has a ton of black plastic on the outside and it looks okay. What's your opinion?

Here in Oklahoma we don't have tint restrictions. I had them do ultra dark on mine. The ultra dark is pretty close to limo tint. The RX already had tint on the back half and I had them take it to ultra dark as well. My LS I had them do the ultra dark as well. Looks GREAT with a white car.

I did not have the windshield strip and never have on any of my cars. Personal preference, but I don't like them.

I had mine done in Longwood, Fl. The driver and passenger doors as well as the windshield strip are 28% and the rear quarter windows and the rear window are 18%. It is Llumar film, not sure which one.

I am glad I didn't go darker on the doors as even 28% can be hard to see through at night.

Just a correction, Llumar was what we used on the Contour. The Mustang has FormulaOne film on it. It was done 3/15/02 and the film was their Ultimate Series. This film has been on the mustang for 3.5 years and it looks as good as the day it was installed. I paid $202 and it came with a lifetime warranty. I had it done by Flying Window Tinters in Longwood, FL on Highway 17-92. I would recommend them to anyone in the area.
