My amp is fried!

Blast! My cheap MTX 240 amp is no more. One of my friends was using it and I guess he did something wrong and it caught on fire! The fuse sparked and lit right up, so he ripped it out and smoke came billowing out of it. I took the board out of it since its pretty much wasted, and the fuse link is melted pretty bad, and the board underneath the link is actually warped! This thing got it bad! Oh well, it was just a cheap amp I got in a trade I made, and I really wasnt going to use it, so its not such a loss, and the friend has already paid me for it Later everybody,

WOW BUMP.

The power fuse didn't protect it? They are suppose to blow before any wiring gets hot enough to catch fire. Maybe he shorted out the AMP.

Well, the guy who put the last fuse in put in a 30 amp fuse when a 20 amp should have been used. He said that it was blowing the 20 amp ones though. This thing is worthless pretty much, unless I get a new link and a few little parts. I did sell the case today

That explains it! A larger fuse will let it burn longer.

I guess he did not know better. If it was blowing the correct size fuse it must have had a problem internally or too small of a power cables.

Good luck!
