Cheap Sound Deadener
I'm doing a minor restoration on a 1984 Buick Regal T Type I have. I pulled down the headliner to replace it and I'm looking to replace the old sound deadening stuff that was above the headliner. I know Dynamat is the popular brand, but I'm looking for a cheaper alternative. I'm not looking to stop rattling from 1000W worth of music, just something to quiet the rain. I need about 16 sq ft.
Please let me know what you guys suggest. Thanks!

Check out Second Skin or RAAMat.

If your looking to dampen the panels it would not be necessary to cover every last inch, for sound proofing you would need to. Adding mass is the basic key to success here, constrained layer dampening is good but I am sure that Second Skin would be just as good as the more expensive products, although I would not rule out the cheap stuff either. It can smell more in the early days but it still does the job
