Re: 2002 Maxima-113,000 miles for $8500

Welcome to the club Scott!!!

I would get a clear bra on the front if you can, helps tremendously. I secretly hope that someone hits me in the front this winter so I can get it re-painted.

Nice ride, Ozz. Any mods?

The hood has some bug bomb etching that is permanent and some typical Nissan chipping. I have refered a ton of well deserved business to a body shop and he said during a slow time this winter, drop my car off for a few days and he will give me a really good deal on repainting the hood and front bumper...then it is off to get a clear bra.

Looks good Scott! My Old 2000 SE, bought her in Nov 1999 and put 55k on her in 2 years.

Re: 2002 Maxima-113,000 miles for $8500

Nice choice Scott. Recommended mods:

Front Strut Tower Brace (I went with Otto Racing, can be had for pretty cheap on ebay. This one is flat, the round ones tend to rub the engine.).

Rear Sway Bar (I went with Stillen. Other makes attach to the rear multi-link beam and have been known to squeak).

See you around the org!

I'm late too, but congrats and hope you like the car as much as I do. Just turned 100k last week.

Re: 2002 Maxima-113,000 miles for $8500

Hate to steal the thunder here but I am somewhat in the same situation.

I found a 2002 Maxima SE with the VIN ending in 446509 but has a whopping 139,279 miles on it. The dealer it's being sold at is asking for $6500, a figure I could afford.

My biggest worry is also the high mileage on a 5 year old vehicle. I've been told to absolutely avoid it at all costs especially since it's not a Toyota/Honda but I don't want to do discredit Nissan. I haven't gone in depth such as Carfax or even showing up for a test drive since I don't know if I really want to take a chance with the vehicle.

Your insurance will be through the roof if your still in NJ. 02-03 Maximas get the HID headlights stolen all the time where I live; and is unfortunately one of the reasons why I didn't choose to get one

Yah I live near the border of Somerset and Morris county so things aren't as wild here as they are elsewhere. But I remember having the Xenons make the news a few years ago when they kept being stolen all around the tri-state. I was hoping the theft deterrent that Nissan installed would help with the situation but I don't know. How much of a premium should I expect (I am extremely expensive to begin with, a 17 year old male in NJ)

I didn't read this whole post, but a friend has a 2003 with the 6 speed. WOW, what a fun car to drive. I hope to buy it from him one day
