Auto? Make sure the fluid isn't burnt. The four speed autos are not really long lived.
Other than that, they are great cars. Decent pick up, somewhat quiet, and stylish.

A used W202 MB is also a pretty good too.

Not sure why Texas law is the way it is concerning rentals if your car is totaled. They should at least be required to pay for one until you get a check. Doesn't help that I am dealing with Allstate. Third time I've been hit by one of their policy holders and each time they drag their feet. First time was one some clown blew through a red to "not get stuck in traffic", which really backfired on him. Totaled my 1977 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham (crushed velour interior!) that I had swapped a 455 into about two months prior. Despite the police report (it happened when I was still living in Arizona), two witnesses that said he ran a light, it was several days before they even admitted responsibility-but they did get me into a rental with a couple days. Took more than 2 weeks to get a check though. 2nd time, someone slid into my car in a parking lot on a rare Texas icy day. Estimate was just under $400 but as usual, it took forever. They told me they would mail a check but I told them I would pick it up at their office. I show up and they said it would be a while before they'd have it ready, so I let my kids (who were around 1 and 3 at the time) run around and generally tear up their waiting area. Had a check in 45 minutes.

Only thing that ever went wrong I caused except the exhaust pipe just rusted through. I kinda like the noise, sounds strong without being ricey | |

I used to own one till it got wecked by a looney in a 7 car collision. The car was a 99 year with 185K miles on it. Paint is on the soft side since it chips easily. The engine is built to last. This goes with the interior as well. After all the years I had it for, there was hardly any signs of wear. As for obtaining parts, you can get them cheap online. The only thing I added to the car was an improved rear anti swaybar and changed the shocks after 95K miles.
