Just like the majority of the others have already said, I'm done with this thread. Obviously, you are not looking for advice, you are looking for someone to agree with you. Good luck with the shopping.

Re: Car best for insurance (minor driver)

Unfortunately, none of us can give you a straight answer on the question of insurance for Crown Vic vs. Audi. I'm guessing the Crown Vic will be cheaper...Do an search on Autotrader for a couple cars that peak your interest. Get the VIN numbers off from the site and send them to your Insurance company to do give a quote. I did this with my insurance company so I could get a clear definition of what kind of car I could afford insurance wise. The lady I talked to told me how cars are rated on some sort of letter scale to determine the insurance range...I will try and look that email up to see if it offers any advice which may be helpful to you.

Re: Car best for insurance (minor driver)

I don't know what's your family financial situation is like but from experience, if I could go back three years I would have bought a good cheap used car and saved the money that I spent on my Civic. I love my car but the money that I could have saved can be helping me out right now. Of course right now I'm not the person paying for my car or my insurance ( my dad is since I'm in college right now and don't have income). Sometimes I feel bad for having him pay it but of course he didn't stop me from getting it. BTW I think the only way to have cheaper insurance as a teenager is if you were a girl lol. My insurance costs around $2600 a year and that's for a Civic. Good luck with finding a car just keep in mind that in the near future that you'll be having expenses and it's always nice to have extra cash on hand.

Re: Car best for insurance (minor driver)

Alright well I want to weigh in once again in this thread, the reason I am so active with posting in this topic is because I know about it first hand and the burdens it can cause. Like the above poster accordmaniac I forgot to mention how the money down the road may be more important than driving a nice car. I know at times I wish I had cheaper car or no car payment at all just because I hate putting my income towards a car since it is limited...and there is nothing worse than having money to worry about. Sometimes enjoying life and being worry/stress free is more important than having a cool car....okay I swear I'm done weighing in haha

If you want to see the rate differences on different vehicles, try going to Progessive.com and play with different vehicles. Put your age in as 16 with 0 tickets and you'll get instant real life quotes for any vehicle you want. It doesn't get easier than that!

Re: Car best for insurance (minor driver)

wow, that's pretty nifty, never thought about that/knew that you could do that!

as for what the guys said above about any cash u save can be used elsewhere, they have a good point. Since insurance is going to be in$@ne anyway, maybe what you want is a good practical and reliable car that will last you a long time but is still fun to drive (not Toyota!) What you might think about is a car like mine, a G3 Teg, or maybe a 00+ Civic, or an Accord V6, or for German cars, an older BMer 3 Series, or a used Mini CooperS, or a Merc C, or for domestic a Mustang or a Dodge SRT-4 or a Pontiac GTO or something.

it really all comes down to what do you want? domestics will fly off the line like nobody's business, so you can always have fun when ur first @ stoplights, imports (forgot to mention Mitsu and Subaru! My bad!) will be loads of fun making right turns on a green and you can slide around the corner @ speeds domestics and Euros can't match, Euros boast a lot of style and, depending on the make, will do either one pretty well.

Practicality? Well, consider interior room; will you be carrying more than 1 passenger often, how much will you be carrying in terms of luggage? I go to college, so I keep my books and things in the trunk, you might be going to HS, idk, will you be needing a lot of trunk space when you DO go off to college?

Reliability? Well, you can't beat Japs for reliability, but on the other hand, larger engines in general will last longer (more miles) because there is less strain per cylinder, that;s why the legendary HEMI is a freaking forever motor, more so the Cummins diesel than anything else.

So what is it that YOU want? And regardless of what you get, take good care of your car, and it will take good care of you.

incidentally, you might like to talk to owners of the cars you are interested in so that you can get opinions off them too! I could chat ur ear off (not that i'm not already ) about what i love and hate about my Teg, maybe you could make a better decision with the opinions of actual owners!

Re: Car best for insurance (minor driver)

At 16, just get a car with a big enough back seat or hatch to get laid in - that's more important than what you get or how it drives. Think I'm full of it? Wait til you hit middle age and the only sex you have are the memories of high school sweeties, another reason to stay single - wedding rings kill a womens sex drive!

HAHAHAHAHAHA 1. i like your thinking, but i dont know if i really want to have sex in the back of my car... that many times when there is a perfectly good upstairs to my garage. Or my house lol. My dad has called me a ***** because i only keep 1 gf at a time, or atleast only hook up with one (unless out of a commited relationship) lol. ANYWAY, i think that im going to keep looking at a mini or older BMW. Possibly some M power thrown in there.

... Ive always liked turbochargers because you can pull up next to a light and rev the engine and the pressure valve letting go sounds cool. the vroom vroom SHHHHHHHH is awsome lol. So i might have to let whatever car i get "breath" a little better.
