Re: internet scams

It's going to Nigeria.

Anything that tries to get you to go outside eBay and/or PayPal is 99% a scam.

Western Union is usually the facilitator for these scams. It's not WU's fault, but its easy to use because it is extremely disadvantageous to the sender, in that there is no protection at all in case of fraud.

I tell everyone in these types of threads to ALWAYS use PayPal with a CREDIT CARD - do NOT use your paypal balance or do a transfer from your bank account!

This practice came in handy the other day... I had someone jump out on a transaction. Since they emptied out their PayPal account, I coudln't get my money back via PayPal claim even though I won the claim.

I called my credit card company, did a chargeback on the paypal charge, and got my money back. I would've lost money otherwise.

Re: internet scams

Any sales transaction via Western Union = scam

There isn't even any discussion about this. It is like giving someone cash. If you send the money via the postal system then it is postal fraud if the deal is bogus and the postal service does go after people.

I go one step further. I actually usually do not sell to eBayers with 0 or less (negative!) feedback.

These are usually the fools who register at the last second (scammers), then bid on and win your auction, then try to say

HELLO FRIEND USE MY FEDEX ACCT IT IS GUD I LUV U MY SON IS KING OF AFRICA, I ADVANCE YOU US$1,000.0.0 YOU GIVE ME ITEM. OK TLK TO U SOON

despite you specifically saying "PayPal ONLY" and other stuff! UGH SCAMMERS! STupid scammers.
