Atom Aerial pics from the track

Here is where I gave it a quick cleanup.

Went to Roebling Road with the owner of the Atom Friday. You have to be on your A game to drive this car for sure, it is not forgiving at all. The owner had a pro "shake it down" for him for a few sessions at the end of the day. So he took alot of notes and will be experimenting with different setups in the future.

Took some pics with my Rebel Xt in sport mode (Hold the button for 3 frames a second) wish I had a longer/better lens. I had to crop these out of the full size pics, so sorry for the poor quality.

More to come by mid week.

Thanks Patrick! Yes they are. I saw the one you detailed a few months back, what motor option is in that one? Do they track it?

Re: Atom Aerial pics from the track

Patrick, That would be a nice track for the Atom. You can get them with whatever options your pocket desires.

Re: Atom Aerial pics from the track

Bryan,

Is that oil blow-by on the Chevy? Good grief. Probably didn't have to worry about mosquitos for the rest of the day. They've been fogged out.

Also, which corner were you on at Roebling? I'm just curious because not many of the cars seem to be hitting what appears to be the corner apex. But maybe I'm just looking at it wrong and there's something further down the road to justify taking that corner wide.

Re: Atom Aerial pics from the track

Sim, On the LTx and LSx motors with internal work, they like to suck oil back into the intake. So when he lets off the gas and back on, it get sucked all the way thru the motor. (I believe that is right) Sometimes an oil catch can will help with that.

I think that is T3 in those pics. It has been 4.5 yrs since I drove on Roebling which was my only time.

Re: Atom Aerial pics from the track

Interesting. I guess I don't get to see too many modded Vettes, Z28s, Trans Ams, Impala SSs, CTS-Vs, SSRs and GTOs (I'm sure I missed something). Most of the ones we get at the local autocrosses are running fairly stock classes.

Great pics by the way.

I'm hoping to make it out to the Atomfest later this month at Hallett. It's a pretty technical track. I'll be interested to see how many Atoms go agricultural. Especially at "The B*tch" (aka Turn 9).

Re: Atom Aerial pics from the track

Thanks Sim! From my ride it seems to me that you need to have your line set before entering the turn, not much allowance to change your mind thru the turns in the atom as there is with something like a vette. The vette is very forgiving.
