My town seems to have mostly Chargers for patrol now, and although they are conspicuously marked, I'm still trying to train myself to look for something other than Crown Vics at night. One of the other towns around here uses Impalas for unmarked patrol and detective work, those are another sneaky one.

Yes, I have seen them around but generally they're used for local street enforcemnet, DT, etc.
Was cruising home and took the middle lane on a know speed trap area.
A little chevy cobalt or malibu go barreling down the speed lane .
Taxi right behind it. I assumed it was just taxi following the rabbit.
Taxi lit the driver up about 1 1/2 mile away.
Local PD has been pretty good lately about switching things up !
Previously, it was mostly marked cars in always the same spots.
Not they mix things up a bit...

Taxi was not the livery type. Yellow Cab variant.
I've been taking it easy on this speed trap road. I know the spots......just got a ticket recently , 1st ticket in years for guess what.....tailgating.
And I wasn't to a degree . Taking the local route I take and I know the LEO may be on the bend waiting. Car in front slams on the brakes when he spots the LEO. I never brake as I just coast .......and apparently the coasting was not good enough for the LEO and pulled out, lit me up. I thought I was getting a ticket for speeding and instead, ugggh, get written up for tailgating .

We have two types of dept's patroling the interstates. MD State Troopers and MD Transportation Authority. Both now have so many types of patrol cars/trucks/SUV's etc. its near impossible to distingush whats what.
I have seen Silverado's, Expeditions, Camaros, Mustangs, Chargers, and Trailblazers. These are usually all black, non-marked, plain trim (badges, no step bars, basic factory wheels) and deep black tint. The only way to tell is the antenna's and the strobes inside the windows, if you catch the sun right. The are in ultimate stealth mode around here, espically on the interstates. These cars never are sitting, they are always driving and patroling. The only cars you see "running radar" from a stand still are the marked Crown-Vics.

There was a segment of road in WI years and years ago that was patrolled by a trooper in a Camaro B4C package. Really nice guy as we chatted with him at a rest stop one day. He said more people were surprised when they were pulled over than argumentative. It made his job easy.
I have also seen a Saleen Mustang trooper in IL that had a 'vette pulled over. The city of Madison had a special squad car they used to arrest street racers. It was a Ford Contour SVT with very dark tint and a turbo/tuned V6. The kids would hear the turbo and the BOV and they would just look for trouble.
