Re: Mazda RX-8

too quirky.interior feels cheap. very nice exterior style. even with my companys discount on Mazda I still passed on this car.

p.s. funny story, I test drove one of these, and the damn thing broke down on the highway. the dealer had to call another employee to pick us up(3 mi from the dealership).

Re: Mazda RX-8

20-22 mpg on the highway is terrible whether it's a sports car or not.

The RX8 is a cool car.... the interior is nice, the exterior styling is "hip". The engine on the other hand... WHY?

Re: Mazda RX-8

If your looking for a fun car that is more practical then a RX-8...Ive had my 2007 Mustang GT for about 9 months with no problems other then i cant keep my miles down cause i love driving it so much. 20 mpg city and good power/ and do well to light mods like intake/tune.

Re: Mazda RX-8

I decided on the RX-8 and I have been driving it since last October without any problems. I find this car to be very easy to drive and have a very comfortable ride on the public road. It has a nice pick up in the highway with a very distinct rotary sound. I can drive into a corner very quickly without breaking a sweat. So far, I have no regret with my choice.

Re: Mazda RX-8

I have owned 2. A 2004. Problems with the A/C cooling properly. Engine must run about 5 minutes to warm up before you can shut it down or it will flood. The 04 was a lease. I bought a 05 and have had 0 problems. I love the car. It is super fun to drive, esp around 4 to 6,000 rpms. Was it Car & Driver who picked it over the Z? I had a RX7 in 1992 and loved it. Gas mileage averages 18 mpg and a quart of oil every 5,000 miles. I use Mobil 1 in it. Mobil says its ok, Mazda rec. regular oil.

I have nothing but sheer excitement when I drive it alone (without wife) on a curvey road. And I am 50 years old. I hope one's waiting for me at the pearly gates!!!

Re: Mazda RX-8

IMO the RX7 was a far superior vehicle. The RX8 has been a mess.

Re: Mazda RX-8

I would've bought a Speed 3 if I were you. More practical, slightly better MPG, and a sleeper.

I'm biased though!

Re: Mazda RX-8

I find it funny that the RX-8 gets worse mileage that heavier faster more powerful family sedans. And while I dont need V8 torque, I also dont want a car that has to be thrashed to get any speed out of. I personally think the RX-8 is one of the shittiest buys in the market. And Im biased too, I love rotaries, and the RX-7.
As much as its a little too feminie, the Turbo'd MX5 Miata is a great car. Fast and nimble, and cheaper then the RX-8 with better mileage and less oil consumption. And good resale!!

Re: Mazda RX-8

The rotary engine loves high rpm's. Mine just begs me to go from 30 to 80mph in know time flat. Even at 125 mph it was begging for more. Love-it ! A 1.3L engine with that much power.

The RX-8 has won more than 50 global awards since its release including 2003 RJC Car of the Year in Japan Australia’s Wheels magazine’s Car of the Year for 2003, 2003 International Engine of the Year, 2004 Singapore Car of the Year, the 2004 U.S. Best Sports Car and UK Car of the Year 2004. It was also named on Car and Driver magazine’s Ten Best list for 2004, 2005, and 2006.

Check out 2009 Mazda RX-8 - Top Speed for the 2009's new look.
