Is this an original, or a Factory-5? reason I ask is becuase the 5s' are really track day cars, which could explain the aggressive cam.

neither...

Factory Five's are kits... which then have to be assembled by the owner (or other). They are sold in either street or competition versions. They are similar in the fact that the drivetrain choice is up to the individual owner. Nothing wrong with them... they're great kits & every owner can customize to their hearts desire.

There are about two dozen (or so) Cobra kit/replica manufacturers all over the world. This one is done by Backdraft Racing (similar to Superformance). Factory built & sold as an assembled vehicle- a complete, painted rolling chassis minus engine & transmission. Suspension components are from BMW 3-series. Engine was custom built for original owner by Keith Craft Racing. Has not been extensively tracked to my knowledge.

Re: a moment of temporary insanity...

went to pick up a co-worker this morning who had been begging for a ride. Set off 3 car alarms while idling down the street...

... good thing I work in a lab... easy access to ear plugs!

That's not insane - that puts you on the sane list, as far as I'm concerned! Congratulations!
