Front Bumper Re-Paint Questions

Hey so I am looking to get my front bumper on my 2005 Corolla repainted soon. It has rock chips beyond repair and that would be the easiest route to go I think. My question is, how much should I expect to pay to have it repainted. I would remove it and have it sanded and primed ready for the body shop, I am just not THAT comfortable enough with my spray gun to paint it myself. Any suggestions would help!!

Re: Front Bumper Re-Paint Questions

would a whole new bumper be cheaper? I think you can get a bumper for a few hundred bucks. i think a repaint will cost more than that.

I would guess a new bumper is $600+.

No, I am talking about having the original one stripped and repaitned. I don't need a new one.

Re: Front Bumper Re-Paint Questions

Believe it or not it can be cheaper just to buy a new bumper.

I was quoted around $250-300 to have my bumper redone and I can buy a brand new OEM urethane bumper primered and painted for the same cost and it comes without rock chips.

I've found an OEM bumper for my car (which is a 95 nissan) for <$100 many times.

True. Corolla shouldn't be too tough to find either.

Re: Front Bumper Re-Paint Questions

AFAIK, most oem bumpers dont come painted, just primed. Some parts do though, like OEM ground effects (lips, sidskirts, etc.).

As to the OP's Q, I think your looking at anywhere from $300-800 for a quality repaint.

Seriously, I would just buy a new bumper, it would probably be cheaper, and like npjohnson said, it would come without rock chips too!

Re: Front Bumper Re-Paint Questions

New OEM bumper cover from Toyota = $191.40
Reconditioned OEM Cover = $131.00
Refinishing = $235.00
Remove and Re-install new cover = $55

You best bet(not cheapest) option would be to replace the bumper. If you can replace it for a couple of bucks more, do it. You won't be sorry.
