Good Mindset Saves Off-road Driver

Check out out this video clip. The guy's *great* driving skills don't impress me as much as the way he kept his head and did the right thing when it hit the fan.

Definitely - especially if I'd spent hours detailing it first

Re: Good Mindset Saves Off-road Driver

I came across that one not too long ago. The guy made an incredible recovery. Always good to see someone make their own luck in a positive way.

wow, that's insane. I'm just impressed he had the presence of mind to THINK to do that, let alone pull it off. Props to him.

Great skills. If that driver was me, I would be dead now...

Yeah, that's what got my attention. This seemed like a great example of how keeping one's head can make all the difference.

FWIW, *I'm* still here only because, a few times, I (and/or others) kept thinking when it mattered, so this sort of thing always hits close to home for me. You just *can't* freeze up.

And yeah, a lot of those "incredible save" moments only come about because somebody's doing something that's, uhm...ill-advised. Doesn't make 'em any less impressive though, and they can be good learning experiences if you live to tell

Nah...well..the first time was when I was a very little kid- riding shotgun in a '62 T-bird with no seatbelt on, I pulled on the door handle when my dad was taking a hard left-hand turn at highway speed; I fell out of the car quite a ways but dad grabbed my leg and pulled me back in. Fastest reaction-time I think he ever exhibited, had he paused for an "OMG!" response it woulda been way too late. The sight of the blue-upholstered door swinging away, the moving asphalt getting closer, and then that *yank* on my leg is one of my earliest memories.

Re: Good Mindset Saves Off-road Driver

Parents can have super-human response times when the occasion calls for it. Good thing, huh?
