Kinda have to agree about hanging on to the Contour.

I really thought that I'd like the Subie WRX, but with just a 2.0 turbo, If you tried to drive it agressively and mashed the loud pedal, nothing happened until the turbo spooled up and then pushed you into the back of the seat and then it was time to shift again.

I didn't have enough patience for a car with that much turbo lag. Perhaps it's gotten better since then and I understand the larger displacement 2.5 liters don't feel so boggy. I'm sure one could learn to be smooth with it and adjust for the oncoming turbo spool up, but it just wasn't for me.

Also, the maintenance woes (mainly having to do with suspension and alignment) from a lot of owners of the '98-99 A4 2.8 Quattro scared me away from them.

I've been looking for six months in Omaha, and finding any '05 LGT is just about impossible, let alone a wagon, and one with a stick (although I've decided I can live with the 5-spd sport-shift auto if that's all I come across). Kansas City and Des Moines are pretty barren, too.

Any plans to modify your LGT? Up-pipe, turbo-back exhaust, and a reflash are on the short list for me if I can ever find one around here.

Not to rub it in, but I had 2 'new' 05 GT wagons to choose from

. Both were with the 5spd in Satin White Pearl. One was a Limited with the Taupe interior and 140+ miles (IIRC). Mine is the non-Limited with black interior (though I have put car seat covers on for the kids) and 89 miles. Last time I drove by the lot the other GT was still there.

When I got the car I was ready to go StageI, springs, wheels and tires right away with StageII stuff to follow, but have since changed my mind and decided to stay stock (except for COBB STS). I need to keep this car as reliable as possible especially with baby #2 expected any day now.

I'll probably revisit the mods in a few years though.

One thing about buying a car that has sat on the lot for two years was that I had a TON of work to do to get the paint back to a decent gloss, and still have a little more to do. I swear the swirls had swirls on them.

For a wagon under 15k I'd go for a Mazda3 or a Toyota Matrix XR AWD or XRS.

I have an account over there, but I don't think I've ever posted. I keep forgetting about that forum; I need to keep an eye on cars for sale. Right after I decided that I wanted to look for an LGT, I logged on over there, and behold, there was a blue wagon, stick, for sale by owner right here in Omaha. I start reading through the thread, pictures are awesome, price is fair, I'm getting excited . . . and I turn to the last page, and it sold the week before I saw the post.

I'll find an LGT sooner or later. Straight to stage II for me, with future plans of a larger turbo and injectors. I want a nice sleeper wagon that will haul my detailing stuff . . . quickly.

Here is my old wagon. Ugly car but a blast to drive. I had a few things done to it and it would run high 12's in the 1/4. I would like to own another someday.

Audis are nice but I wouldnt buy a used one out of warranty. A Subaru Forrester XT is cool. BMW has a 3 and 5 series sport wagon.

you want a sporty wagon . well i just picked up a dodge magnum r/t and love it . if your not into the hemi engine get the v 6 modell . the car runs well and handle excelent plus its a hott looking car . plus they have many aftermarket accessories for the car . they also have all wheeldrive verstions if you live by snowy conditions

We have a 2004 Mazda 6 wagon for the same reason (140lb dog) We love it and tons more room and more luxery than the protege 5.

I pretty much abandoned the search last year. I just couldnt find anything that floated my boat, I like the A3, A4, 3 and 5 series wagons but try to fins one with a Sport pkg and a manual trans, they just dont exist!

Meanwhile every time I think I'd like a BMW 5-series wagon I can only find ones with manual shift!
