Ok the way this whole thing took place was very shady but bottom line I got a ticket for an expired tag.
My ?. Does this type of thing in any way effect your insurance?

It's not a moving violation so it shouldn't. It should have as much impact against your insurance as a parking ticket. To find out for sure, you could always call your insurance company. Or you could call any other insurance company and ask a "hypothetical question".

Most courts have some sort of a waiver if you can prove that you got your plates registered within a certian number of days after you got the ticket. I think its like 10 or something. Your tags can't have been expired for more than 60 days, usually, to qualify for the waiver. You can call the court house to find out. The waiver fee is like 10 bucks or something minor like that. You could look into that if you are interested in keeping it off your record altogether.

I went 1 hour after the ticket and paid my tag stuff....

The thing that got me was the attitude of the officer. He saw me at a red light coming the other way. Made a u-turn and stopped to wait on me. (Note: the whole time at the light he stares at my car) He's stopped on the far right side of the road. I'm in the far left lane and pull away from the light. As soon as I get about even with him he turns on his blues and pulls out.
I pull over and he asks why I thought he pulled me over. I say No idea. He says it's due to my Plates being expired!! How did he see that from in front of my car!!!??
Anyway I just recently moved to the area and was still a little unsure of how they did their tag processing. I never received anything in the mail and was coming up on my Bday so I figured I was due. I told him this and he says tough luck! It's my responsiblity. I thought for sure he'd just give me a warning. Nope ticket and 98.50 fine!! And the Plate was out of date by three months so the 60 day wouldn't help.
Thanks for the input.

That's too bad. Sometimes you get lucky and a lenient cop pulls you over, other times you don't. I got a ticket a few weeks ago for tossing my cigarette out the window. Now that's something I never thought would happen!

I have a buddy at work that got pulled over 2 weeks ago for having expired plates. The cop was cool with him though, and told him that if he gets his plates fixed the same day as the ticket then the court will throw it out. As far as the court is concerned, you were on your way to get your car registered when you got pulled over. If you catch my drift....

Hehe... good idea.... but... I was going the complete wrong way for that. I was thinking about a reason as to why I would have been over there..... only reason would be Vet. Only thing is that I was going to Best Buy... Don't think the judge would be too kind with that. Maybe if I had a vet receipt.... hmmmm..
ring ring Dr. Britt.

I know I was in the wrong. So I will pay the fine but I wish the officer wouldn't have been such a jerk about it. I know for a fact that there is no way he could have known what he was getting me for when he turned on his blues. I'm pretty sure it was just young guy in nice sporty car scenerio. errrrr.
Oh well
Again thanks for the replies.
