Keep your fingers crossed
As many of you already know, I am in the market for a 2002 Maxima SE with a few twists (See post in customizing for the twists). I checked out a few dealerships and decided to go with a new dealership to see if they could pull the trigger on this deal.
I will be hearing about that next week.
In the meantime, this is what I am ordering:
Color: Super Black/Black
Options:
Meridian Package
Leather Package (Unfortunately, the Bose is a part of the package)
Heated Steering Wheel & Seats
Traction Control
Automatic Transmission
Power Sunroof
Splash Guards

noooooo, not the automatic transmission!!!! I hate the new maxima's auto tranny. IT ALWAYS UPSHIFTS TOO QUICKLY. If you are trying to accelerate moderately quickly, it always cuts in and shifts up, then you give it a little more gas to compensate and it violently kicks down. I could never get it to the redline even if i floored it. Don't get me wrong, the shift quality is first rate, however the software is way to non-performance oriented. This is one of the cars I looked at when I got the IS300, I would definitely get the stick shift. I drove a 2001 model, so it may be slightly different but I doubt it was changed. The reason I didn't get a maxima is because I could get an IS300 or Acura TL for around the same price (28K) which I feel are much better built cars.

WAIT!!!!!! Are you saying you got your IS for only 28K? How the hell did you do that? That's even under INVOICE! When I got mine about 3-4 months ago, I was told that the only model that I can get under INVOICE is the sportscross, and even a sportscross cost more than $28K. I paid a little over 5K more than you did (out the door price), and as far as I know that was just $700-$800 above INVOICE. I hope this is a typo otherwise I won't be able to sleep tonight!
BTW, one thing. Maxima is roomier than IS300. Try fitting 3 passenger in the back of IS is a real workout!

I would have gotten the stick but with the amount of commuting I do, the auto was a better choice.

Prinz, you're going to love the 2002 Maxima. I've driven them quite a bit and they are lots of fun. I love how it feels and responds when you accelerate very quickly from a dead stop. The 255 hp are very powerful yet very, very quiet. Awesome sound. As for the Bose, I have the Bose in my 2000 and all I did was add a pair of some 10 inch JL Audios in the trunk. I had a custom made box that fit perfectly in the trunk slot where the back seats are. This allows me to still enjoy the full trunk space. I have the amp right on top of the speaker box. All I can say is that these JBLs give the Bose a real good and clear sound. I've had dozens and dozens of audio buffs listen to the system and they're all impressed. Very simple and cheap upgrade to help improve the stock Bose system. Laters

Update
Well, folks, they approved me for the financing. I have to head out to the dealership tomorrow to do the usual dickering and bickering associated with a new car purchase.
Also, they found a Maxima with the exact level of equipment I want in Milwaukee. They are going to do a trade for it so they can get the car there for the other goodies I am adding.
