Unhappy I don't think this one will buff out . . .

Driving home from work this afternoon, I was hit by a red-light runner. My light had been green for at least 5 seconds (by eyewitness accounts), when I ventured slowly into the intersection, I caught a glimpse of another vehicle speeding down the cross street. I hit my brakes as hard as I could & was at a dead stop when he hit my left front corner, and here's the results . . .

The good thing is that I was able to walk away from this without a scratch (I am feeling a little stiff & sore now though) & witnesses did stop & offer assistance.

And the lesson learned from this, is that if I had not entered the intersection slowly, checking as I went, I would have been in the middle of the street & would not be typing this post. So please, be VERY defensive out there, folks!!

And before you all get on my about the "dusty" condition of the car, it WAS clean before the gardeners showed up at work with their leaf blowers

Wow, huge bummer. I'm glad to hear you came out of it alright, but be sure to get checked out well and give it awhile to see if any problems turn up.

The good news is that you're safe and sound.

The bad news is the unplanned hassle of getting your car repaired.

p.s. -What's up with the dirty hood? (LOL).

Wow, Norah! Glad you are ok, I had one like that once where the guy hit the fender and about 6" of the driver's door...and how it was good I didn't come off the light just a hair quicker (this was a blind corner). Did you drive the vehicle after?

Re: I don't think this one will buff out . . .

Yes you were very fortunate and I am happy it worked out that way for you. I am also glad to see that an eyewitness stopped and gave the truth regarding the other person running the light!

There are so many drivers who just disregard traffic signals these days. A portion of it is seems to be driver distraction while most of it seems to be people who just don't care. Regardless we notice it is becoming more of a problem around here and by rule of thumb we practice the same method as you... look, creep out, and hold our breath in the hopes that we don't get nailed!

Good luck with getting everything taken care of. And please tell me the other driver had insurance?!

Norah,

I'd definitely get to the doctor and get checked out. It sucks that all that happened because some idiot didnt want to sit through a light. Glad you werent seriously injured though.....The forums wouldnt be the same without ya.

Re: I don't think this one will buff out . . .

^^ idiot spammer, reported.

Glad you're ok man! This scares me a bit because I'm usually one of those guys who starts out right after the green. I've always been scared of something like this happening since I am quick off the line after the green (I tend to predict greens since I drive manual). Sometimes I think I'm too paranoid always looking back and forth to make sure no one's coming down, but this helps me feel a little less insane.

But hey, look at the bright side, you get a new hood Hopefully the body shop will fix you up well!

No Norah!!!!! Good thing is that you're safe. The first time I slammed on the brakes of my dad's CR-V I was pleasantly surprised to find that those have very strong brakes.
