Odd damage story....

Just venting.

I'm driving down the road today minding my own business. When the van in front of me slows down fast. I see in front of the van a steal cable on the road. The cable is one from one of the telephone polls. Its one of those support cables that go from the poll to the ground. I guess the 40mph winds today blew it lose and the part that should have been connected to ground was blowing around on the road like a whip still attached to the telephone poll. The van starts to drive over it and the cable gets stuff on something in the front of the van. He starts driver off while I'm sitting there stopped. I see the cable getting taught. I'm sitting there paralyze as this all took place in 5 seconds. The cable lets go from the van and comes flying at me like a giant whip. I duck my head down behind the steering wheel and hear the cable smack against my roof. In pure shock I drive up to the nearest little drive way and take a look. There is about a 4-5in long mark on the roof. I look back and the cable is off the road. So I figured there was nothing I could do so I drove off.

I was going to take some pics but yesterday I accidently drove through some construction zone and the car is covered in mud. I feel to embarrassed to post pics to autopia with the car being dirty. So that is my week of bad car luck. Good thing is I think I can polish out the mark. I will have to see after I wash the car. Sorry for the rant.

Wow, crazy.

It's been windy where I live too.

Are you in Southern California too?

If you aren't confident you can polish out the scratch, it may be best to leave it and get the utility company to pay for the repair.

Re: Odd damage story....

Thank god. Nothing bad. I just washed it. The cable made some odd marks on the glass and a little part of the roof. A little bit of AIO and they came off. So all is good....panic over.
