I was in an accident today...

I was on the freeway - sudden braking - rear ended by a pickup with NO INSURANCE : : , and another guy slammed into the pickup. I went to a body shop and got an estimate for $5,000, although they were sure that there was more damage buth they could only see it after they removed the rear bumper and stuff. My neck is a sore but luckily no one was hurt especially since my little brother (8 yrs old) was in the car too.

sorry about your car. Glad you two were ok though. Don't you hate people without insurance?

Wow that is $5,000 worth of damage? I'd check some other places too.

Sorry to hear about what happens.

Ouch, that's painful to look at. If your neck is sore be sure to get it checked; better safe than sorry. I hope you got a police report for insurance purposes. I hope everything works out for you.

That's what I was thinking too....$5G??? Well, whatever it costs, just pick your shop carefully to make sure they do it right. Don't be afraid to spend some quality time with the guy who will do the work and let them know what you expect, e.g. matching color, amount of orange peel on rest of car, make sure they don't wax before delivery, you're wary of rotary holograms from compounding after the repaint, etc.

Glad you're pretty much ok. When I was rear-ended a time years ago my neck didn't really bother me till I tried to sleep the first night, but that part was torture. Take care of yourself and don't sign off on any medical waiver till you've been thoroughly checked out and have taken some time to make sure how things turn out.

I would find the highest recommend body and paint shop money can buy(talk to classic car guys, not joe shmo) , and get everything estimated for doing it up right with only VW parts. Make sure the shop will not budge on OEM parts, and try to get panels replaced rather than "refinished". It's not your fault, so you shouldn't sacrifice on quality.

So I assume they arrested the dude that hit you or are you not required to have insurance in your state?

If your neck was sore yesterday, I'm guessing it really felt worse this morning. Good luck with the repairs and make sure you are physically OK, that's the main concern.

Bump to the medical part. Get checked out, X-rays and all to be safe, Girlfriends father got into a car accident two and a half years ago.Wore his seatbelt but threw the chest strap behind him (leaving him only the waist strap). Went to the hospital complaining of pains and was discharged to go home with a supposed sprain. Went back the next day because of the pain, and xrays showed he had a broken neck. Had to wear a halo with screws drilled into him.

Not trying to scare you, but pelase, get checke dout.

Glad you're safe. Get a check up just to be sure.

I hate people without insurance. What in the world do you do when they don't have liability? Better yet, what CAN you do?

Hope you called police to file a report.

Off topic, but I never tailgate people. People in Houston drive like maniacs and everytime I see an accident, it involves 5+ cars because they're all tailing each other on the freeway.
