Buying Used Car
Alright well out of no where I decided maybe it is time for a different car. I did this last year with my Firebird and it sold in a week...So I cancelled my order on the new hood and I started looking at cars. Im looking to spend $10,500 or less under 100k miles. Any suggestions as to what I should get? Or should I just keep the GTP? I dont want something expensive to fix like an older bmw or nething...Something practical for someone at 18 to fall in love with
*Thanks Danase, this reminded me I usually only drive my cars in the summer and I have a winter beater...so I dunno if this will change ne of the responses*
Any good cars for sale websites other than the usuals:
Autotrader
AutoRv
Carsforsale

You are going to get a million suggestions so here is mine.
Get something AWD. I have had RWD, FWD and now that I have an AWD car I won't go back to a daily driver that is not AWD especially in Michigan.

Whatever you get- I suggest you take it to your house and HAND WASH IT before signing anything on it. It still amazes me what a dirty car and five feet rule can hide!

weren't/aren't mitsubishi's unreliable...if reliability is a major concern, I'd check the consumer reports used car report. they usually break down the cars by model and year

Subie, or AWD, even for Summer duty! I have a blast in mine when a bunch of us head out to Hell, MI and cruise around in the spring, summer, and fall.

Well after the much needed input on the Eclipse I read through some consumer reports and it made me think twice about what I was getting into. For the price to miles ratio it just wasnt where I wanted to go to buy a vehicle that will last. I am currently looking into VW Passats the GLS V6 with awd....Tomorrow after school I am going down to the credit union to talk with my loan advisor anyone know how these insurance rates would compare to my current Grand Prix GTP in general?? Higher or lower.. or should I go with the 1.8 4 cyl. with tiptronic? the car is a 2002 which was rated one of the safest cars for the year. Thanks for the help.

VW was just on the worst reliability list that came out from Consumer Reports last week. But, like you said, they are safe. I am glad you decided against the Eclipse, those things seem to break down left and right. Insurance might be a little cheaper since the car is as safe as it is.
