honda civic vs toyota corolla
my pops is looking to get a new car (with auto transmission) as his 98 accord with over 175,000 miles is getting tired. the two choices are the top models of the honda civic sedan ex (without the navigation) and it's rival, the toyotta corolla ? he uses the car 98% of the time for work (50 mile drive each way), and for him to buy a step model up like the camry or another accord, is overkill. what do you think? i'm gearing more towards the honda... http://automobiles.honda.com/models/...me=Civic+Sedan OR http://toyota.com/corolla/index.html..._COROLLA_INDEX

agreed. i know looks aren't everything (engine is just as important)... but the civic looks nicer, imo. they re-styled (looks like the little brother of the tsx) it this year. the corolla still looks the same...

He can't go wrong with either of them. Just have him take a couple of test drives. I would think with that kind of commute, he would want the more comfortable one.

The Corolla has a very awkward driving position. This has been noted in many reviews since the new model in 2003 and I agree completely!! I traded my '03 in on an '04 Accord in 2004 due to the seating/steering wheel position. It was killing my back, two hours at the wheel was the max I could live with.
Tell Dad to take a longer than ordinary drive in the Corolla before he plops down any $$.........I didn't and wished I had when it was all said and done. The Corolla's engine is louder than the Civic's also.

The new Civic, especially the Si is a very slick looking little car. Im by no means a Honda fan and I would definitley drive one of those!

IMO, the Honda is more refined in every way...not that I am biased.

If your father likes the newly designed Civic than I think he should go with it. The Civic overall just seems more refined than the Corolla.

for around $19,000 on the ex sedan, it seems like a pretty good deal. not to mention... that's the msrp price, in which it will probably be around $2000 less on invoice, which will probably bring it around $17,000...

The Honda Civic 100%
C'mon....Car of the Year....what more justification do you need??
Awesome engine, innovative interior, super-sleek looks, value, and bulletproof reliability....
I believe the Corolla can only be put into two of those categories
