Ferrari 599 GTB Details and Images

DETROIT — Ferrari's latest heartbreaker, dubbed the 599 GTB, will be the most powerful V12 production car of all time, officials told Inside Line.

The Ferrari 599 GTB will boast 5,999cc of displacement — hence the name — from its V12 powerhouse derived from the legendary Enzo engine. Officials say it will be capable of "no less than" 620 horsepower at 7,600 rpm giving a weight-to-power ratio of 2.6 kg per horsepower. Torque ratings have not yet been determined.

The whole package will ride on an all-aluminum chassis, making the 599 GTB lighter than the 575 Maranello that it is replacing, officials said.

The 599 will come with a choice of two six-speed transmissions, either a manual shift or F1-style paddle shift transmission. The majority will be built with the F1-style, officials said.

Other options give buyers a choice of 19-inch front wheels paired with 20-inch wheels in back or 20-inch wheels all around.

What this means to you: This is the ultimate V12 Ferrari for the crowd that doesn't need to ask permission.

I kinda like it. It says it's the Maranello replacement, and I always thought that car was a little bland. This has a little more style. Plus it's gonna have around 100 hp more?? I don't mind that at all

I like the "star" wheels. Pretty cool. Probably looks even better in person like most Ferraris. I live 5 minutes from our Ferrari dealer - those guys see me dreaming every week.

I love it! Eventhough it is similar to the 612 (which I hate) this car is beautiful. Personally I dont like Ferarri's new direction (not that I can afford one so who cares?), thinking that the 575M and the F355 were Ferrari's 2 best all time designs,.but this is a great looking car. I saw the FXX at the NAIAS and wow does that car have a presence that pictures dont even come close to doing justice!
