Important(for me) question about the F150

Hi

Do you know if the (2004 and up) FX4 trucks are taller than the 4X2 not only because of the tires?

I mean, if we put the same tires on both trucks..., would the FX4 still be taller than the 4X2?

I have always tought that the 4X4 trucks were some how taller than the regular trucks but now I'm not so sure, And this is important because I'm about to buy one(2006) and I requested a Reg. cab FX4 because is taller..., but if is just because the tires.. well the $$$ doesn't justify it considering my needs...
I could instead buy a 4X2 SuperCab and get some big wheels and tires

Thank you for you response

Giorgio

The 4x4 models have, i believe ,a 2 or 3" lift on them. And bigger tires.

How much below invoice to you pick it up for?

The FX4 has Racho shocks and a beefed up suspension. It is taller than a regular F150 4x4, but I can not tell you by how much.

I recently bought an 02 F150 Supercrew, it is a Lariat Package and also the FX4 package. It has 17" wheels which further increase its height over the non FX F150 I looked at that had 16" wheels.

BTW..the 06's are sweet!

The 4x4 has different springs to accomodate not only the transfer case, front driveshaft, and differential, but also to help with ground clearance. The assumption is that a 4wd is going to go offroad at some time and need additional clearance.

So... did you really buy a 4WD to get a taller truck?? They do sell a PreRunner kit that would have jacked you up there for less money with the 2wd.

Thank you all for the response

I haven't bought it yet, but is already on the Dealer store, they already brought it from other near city(on those big auto-carrier trailers)... while my bank is processing the credit my Ford's sales executive want it to have it ready.
I mean, I know I can change my mine for other truck.., but for that I need to be sure.
As I was at the begining..., before I started to realize what were the elements I was considering to buy it.

The problem here is that I'm in Mexico and in Mexico there are not too many f150("Lobo" here)styles to choose from.
The Box with Sporty Fenders only comes with the FX4 trucks.

hmm..., I think I need to go and take a good look to the other F150s...
I don't know how much they are, nor if they worth it, etc.

Thank you

Giorgio
