Re: honda or toyota?

was wondering... how come honda hasn't come out with a truck (not ridgeline) like the toyota tacoma? i bet they would sell tons of them and not to mention... it's just about the only vehicle (standard size pickup truck) that's missing in the honda line-up...

Re: honda or toyota?

My gf took her 06 Civic Hybrid to get some service done at the Honda dealership this past Friday where she bought her car in 2006, and they actually BROKE her car.

She left the dealer after her service work, and after driving around she took it back in and stated that her car is not performing the way it should be. Her service advisor told her "oh it's normal", but then she complained about how her car lost it's power when accelerating, and her battery would lose all of it's charge.

After debating back and fourth, the service dealership actually took a brand new Civic Hybrid off the loading truck to let her drive and prove her wrong.. So... it's was raining but then it was her, the service advisor and her mother in that new car with a few miles on it, and she drove the hell out of it.. broke the tires loose, red lined the car and the dealership were proved that they were wrong...

To make a long story short..... She was pissed beyond belief because Honda tried to take advantage of her the 2nd time (first time was about fake road block/ clear bra installed), and that their techs have no idea on how to fix, or service a Civic Hybrid.

As of now... Honda had Hertz pick her up to lend her a Civic or Accord. Neither one was there, so she has a Chevy Cobalt where there's no PW, seat is broken, etc... (POS compared to her Hybrid), and right now she has to drive that thing to work, and they said (Hertz) would trade the Cobalt for a Toyota Prius.

Her dealership is waiting for a call from American Honda so they can figure out what the hell they did to her car during service. My gf told me she is done dealing with Honda, and she might consider trading her paid off Hybrid for a Lotus, or a Prius... I told her to keep her Honda and find a new Honda service.... Crazy weekend for her, but I'm glad my Acura dealer is not like that.

Re: honda or toyota?

Honda's resale value is stronger than toyota, and their reputation is just as strong. I owned a camry, great car but it would put you to sleep before you reached the speed limit. Honda's styling seems to be edgier and their suspension setup is arranged for everybody under the age of 60, unlike most toyotas. Unless you want a truck, then get ya a tundra

Re: honda or toyota?

Overall, Honda over Toyota (actually easily), when you factor Lexus into the equation, it's closer but I still give the edge to Honda.

Agreed. I would have to give the edge to Honda I think, albeit a slight edge.

Re: honda or toyota?

I think there is something that happens to company when it becomes top dog...

I'm a bit disillusioned with Toyota/Lexus because I think their product quality has dropped a bit in the last 3-4 years. Honda, on the other hand seems to just keep getting better.

Re: honda or toyota?

Honda over Toyota. Having owned one of Toyota's appliances, Hondas are at least less generic and slightly more "fun."
