Buying a small compact car, what would you choose?

Dodge SX2.0?
Pontiac Pursuit?
Chevrolet Aveo?
Chevrolet Colbalt?
Chevrolet Optra?

No Ford Focus. It must be domestic. So what would you choose? The #1 priority here is reliability. 2nd is cost. Please share info if you have any personal experience or know of any good reviews or surveys.

Civics and Corolla's are domestic AND reliable.

yeah, the Corolla is a good choice, can achieve up to 40mpgs on the highway and will have good re-sale value when the miles start to accumulate.

Let me make this more clear. It has to be a Chrysler or GM car.

The Imprezas now come from Japan...100%.
Out of that list, I would not choose any, but I would go with the Cobalt I guess.

In your position, I would go with the Cobalt. But if it were for me, I would go with the Civic hybrid. DO you have a GM card or something?

As far as looks go I like the cobalt the best, but for reliability - the sx2.0 has been around quite a while and all the other cars on that list are pretty new, along with new comes bugs in the platform that are worked out with new model years. That's my opinion without knowing anything about those cars.

Cobalts are nice. I think chevy has come a long way with its fit and finish on interiors. Aveo is crap, there's a reason they only made it for one year. All Dodges suck, imo, when we get them in my shop 99.9% of all dodges have some sort of leak by 50k.

Well Subaru is 20% owned by GM so I would guess it should work. But given those choices

Pontiac Vibe AWD and very nice looking

GT has a peppy six speed and get's over 30 miles to the gallon

I know its not a domestic but if your looking for mpg and excellent reliability go with a toyota echo and get 40mpg mixed driving and 45+ on the highway
